Present...

Gerda could feel a rush of anxiety flood over her from head to toe as the sound of footsteps loudly approached her holding cell. Finally after what felt like an eternity the face of General Percival appeared. He had a very stoic collected expression that mirrored her own as they both tried to appear unaffected by each other's presence. This man was once a good friend of hers but he now treated her as if she was his enemy.

"The king has sent me down to collect you." Percival said in an emotionless voice but it managed to spark more anxiety in Gerda.

Without warning the guards opened her cell and pulled at her chains causing a small hiss to escape Gerda's dry, cracked lips. She lost count of how long she had been a prisoner but the raw cuts around her wrists were enough to show that it may have been a few weeks. Her hair was surely left a tangled mess and her skin cold to the touch from an icy sponge bath she took earlier in the day.  She was much thinner than before almost to the point of her bones visually more prominent in certain areas of her body.

She stood quiet as her bare feet walked down the empty halls of the castle. She recalled the times as a free woman when she roamed these very halls. It felt unreal that she, a once very powerful woman, was now lowered down to a filthy prisoner. Surely the queen will set her free once this is all over. Perhaps she will be the one who releases her after talking sense into the king. Gerda sighed in relief, knowing that soon she will have her life back.

Her thoughts were disrupted when she was jerked to a stop in front of the doors to the main hall. Something felt off when the doors opened revealing King John whose eyes sternly looked her over. Gerda was pulled into the giant room until she was forced to kneel down fifteen feet away from him. She stared up at him trying her best to appear unbothered by displaying her usual hard expression.

"It has come to my attention that you were the one who fed the queen lies about the Moor folk. According to a reliable source you being her advisor had taken advantage of your position. Yes, the queen had already held a strong...dislike of the fairies but you used her feelings to your own gain by filling her head up with more hatred." King John said in a firm voice as he stared Gerda down with accusing eyes.

Gerda for a second allowed an emotion of shock to cross her face but quickly concealed it and allowed the shock to burn inside. She couldn't believe what she was hearing before her. It was the queen who had chosen her only because she saw that Gerda supported her agenda. Yes, Gerda did her job by advising her but the queen had specifically ordered her to carry out her deeds against the Moors.

"Your Majesty, there must be a misunderstanding. I was simply following ord-" Gerda tried explaining but was disrupted by the king's angry voice.

"Did I say you can speak?! You will hold your tongue and listen to what I have to say. You are to be held accountable for your crimes and will be banished from this kingdom. From this day on you will no longer be our prisoner. You are now in custody of the dark fey and it is their leader who will decide what is to become of you as his prisoner. Now guards please take her away." King John demanded with his chin held up high.
