-Can we live with such uncertainty? Spare ourselves a fight today, only to die tomorrow.-

The new reality of being a vampire did not come without some difficulty, for example, the first few nights living with two humans were hell, and the aromatic aromas that came from my father's and sister's blood were delectable.
Though being a newborn I knew that my impulses at the moment were not easily controlled, I managed... I found that Bella's blood smelt slightly sweeter and more decedent, whereas dad's smelt crisp and new, like freshly picked vegetables or baked bread. Two completely different scents yet both are equally as delicious.

My diet for human blood meant my eyes were like the Volturi, a blood red. It was off-putting to Bella at first she had assumed I was evil, manipulated into drinking from humans I explained to her that simply wasn't the case. I had tried the vegetarian diet but it didn't appeal to me.

Dad hadn't noticed anything untoward when I came home, I had told him that I went to assist on an archaeological dig in the depths of Central America, explaining to him that the cell service was none existent and that it was an opportunity I couldn't pass on.
After a stern telling off from him I promised I wouldn't leave the house again without so much as a whisper to him about where I was going. He seemed to appreciate the sentiment.

It had been roughly two weeks since I came home unfortunately for me I was jobless and my ability to not murder Bella was weaving itself thin. She was completely different to how she was before my transformation now she was never at home. She was only here when she went to sleep, spending the majority of her time with Jacob, billy blacks son. Fixing up motorbikes or something, it's where she was now.

Of course, I knew my way around a vehicle relatively well but I had no interest in mechanics. It just wasn't worth my time. I'd rather get my hands dirty hunting or excavating. So knowing billy I knew that Bella was in safe hands with Jacob.

I was currently on my laptop my old professor mentioned that he was retiring and that if I was interested he could put in a good word with his superiors for me to take his place. It wasn't Harvard or Oxford but it was a start. It brought excitement to rest in my stomach. I agreed to the job before I thought twice. Closing my laptop shut after I sent the email I sat back in the kitchen chair at first thrilled to be offered such a prestigious position but slowly that fluttered away leaving anxiety and frustration in its wake.

I had agreed to a position on the other side of the world... Volterra, Italy. I had not long moved back home. Bella was out of her episode, and dad was enjoying having both his girls home but I wasn't satisfied even with my vampirism I knew I longed, craved more... the thrill of adventure.
Dad would not want to say goodbye again, he'd hate it I know he would but as selfish as I may be I wanted to see the world again through a different set of eyes.
I had spent enough time in forks looking at the same trees, I wanted to see more, experience more...

The sound of the back door unlocking snapped my attention to it. I was alone or at least I thought I was. The second the door opened I rushed towards the intruder in a split second my hand was wrapped in a death grip around their neck pinning them against the wall. My eyes glowing a dark purple I was in a blind spot of rage, I was about to enter their mind, pull apart their memories and render them useless. Their hands clawed at mine, in my blind attack I hadn't even acknowledged who I had in my grips until the familiar scent wafted to my nose.

"Alice?!"

I growled almost inaudibly. Her brother broke my sister's heart and left her in the freezing cold forest alone and now his adoptive sister broke into my house in the hopes of achieving what?
