"Rowen's dress"

-But in a solitary life, there are rare moments when another soul dips near yours, as stars once a year brush the earth. Such a constellation was he to me.-

March 28th, 2006.
Volterra, Italy.
Rowens pov.

The sun shone through the windows, cascading a warm atmosphere over me. It was the morning of my coronation and while admittedly I felt overwhelmed, I couldn't help but find peace on this particular day, unlike my nerves that were apparent at my wedding.
Me and Caius both moved from our old chambers to a shared one. The entire wing was reserved for the kings and queens. Our chambers were much larger, with an adjacent double bathroom. The interior carried the same dark gothic aesthetic as the rest of the castle, with large renaissance paintings hung on the walls and expensive wooden furniture decorated around the room, which happened to overlook the rolling Volterra hills.
My head raised and my expression neutral I held out my arms as Aeryn clasped the cuffs closed, my black finely embellished gown hugged my figure, the gold detailing clasped across my chest in a military-like fashion, its caped sleeves added for some whimsical charm.

"It is a joyous day... we will gain a new queen and you will gain a crown. I must say that I do believe you'll rule well, your majesty."
Aeryn smiled, brushing a stray piece of my black hair over my shoulder, she had previously braided some of it into complex pieces and pulled it away from my face, allowing the rest of it to fall in soft waves down my back.

"Thank you...did I ever tell you of my mother?"
I pondered, and Aeryn furrowed her brows.
"I do not believe you have, my queen."
She spoke as I turned to face her my hands resting in front of me.

"Well, in truth there isn't all that much to tell... however, I find myself longing for a motherly figure that I was stripped from so early on. My father says me and are her both so similar yet so drastically different... one of the same if you will... Aeryn you've been the mother I never had... you have taken her role unconsciously yet without resistance. You've given me a taste of motherhood and I thank you, sincerely..."
I held her hand in mine, her eyes blissful. Without another word she wrapped her arms around my neck, hugging me with purity.

It took me a moment before I relaxed into her arms, relishing in the feeling of being loved.

"I had a daughter long ago, before I was bitten, she was much like you... I owe you a lifetime of gratitude for bringing my baby girl back to me. It has given me eternal peace to know that her beauty and intelligence are present in you, my queen." She whispered into my ear, burying her face in my hair. I couldn't help the soft smile that appeared on my face.

Eventually, she pulled away, her eyes drooping with maternal love.
The door opening creaked around the room. My eyes narrowed before they burned with joy.

"I thought my guard would be escorting me today, it appears that you are not my guard."
I retorted, folding my arms I shot him a mischievous wink.

"Yes well who better suited to protect my wife than me."
I rolled my eyes, Caius had been... especially possessive since our wedding, I had, of course, brought the issue to his attention but he paid no mind, claiming it was simply my overactive nature. I refused to enter into his thoughts knowing that whatever I found would only fuel my suspicions.
