-Power resides where men believe it resides. It's a trick. A shadow on the wall. And a very small man can cast a very large shadow.-

"They've already drawn too much attention."
Demetri spoke as he stood with Felix, Alec and jane on top of a car park, his eyes falling onto Riley and the newborns that scrapped amongst themselves below him.

"So has our inaction, people may begin to question the Volturi's effectiveness."
Felix spat eager to put an end to the army and make his queen proud, but frustrated at being told to wait for orders.

"Let them..."
Jane spoke, her gaze unmoving from the destruction below. Felix turned around exasperating, as his cloak flowed behind him.

"Maybe we should consult with aro... or Caius..."
he gritted out, Felix wanted to be loyal to all four monarchs, but he was sworn to the queen, therefore, she came first, however, he knew that keeping secrets from the kings would not end well.
His back folded in pain as janes voice permeated towards him, Demetri and Alec glancing at each other.

"Aro's decisions are being watched, as are caius'... we either let them do what they were created for or... we end them... the queen gave explicit instructions to collect information only, we are her guard we can not be distrustful, we wait for her word."
Jane lectured before releasing Felix from his prison of pain.

"Your grace, the newborns are moving towards forks. Your bird has informed us of Riley's plan to raise the army from there." Santiago's voice called out from where he stood.
My palms rested against the table as I lowered my head. The rings that rested on my finger glittered under the candlelight. Sighing deeply I remembered I had told aro this would happen, and yet I had been ordered to stand down.

"How many?"
I didn't lift my head, I was fighting with myself to keep my anger and frustrations internalised.

"Nineteen, your grace."
Felix announced with formality.
I groaned loudly, nineteen newborn vampires governed by a teenager and a vengeful woman. I turned my back to my guards, to watch the stars as they burned particularly bright.
