'And you saw this on Giant's tears?' Doxod said to Zennick later that day in the underground hideout. He didn't have time to change, still wearing the lilac suit, which shone with a strange eeriness under the green luminescents of the cave. Zennick could feel Doxod's scepticism even as he kept his long face neutral.
Zennick played with his suit lapel, the smoothness of the material soothing him as he tried to work out how to say it more convincingly.
'If Zennick says it's a thing, I believe him. I don't even care that no one has thought of it before,' Mirth piped up, the tone glacial with challenge.
Doxod sighed. 'But GT has been around for ages and no one has thought it's anything more than weird. It's not like the Amanita powder. The images from GT are purely random. This is based on nothing but a feeling.'
Mirth came forward and stood on step in front of Zennick. 'He's got good feelings. I don't even care, mate. It's something and it's worth exploring.'
'Maybe your friend is addicted to drugs and you just don't realise. It's happened to a lot of us. Just admit it and we can try to get Zennick help.'
Mirth didn't even turn around, just kept staring Doxod down. 'You addict to Giant's Tears?'
'No,' Zennick replied firmly, wanting to hide, and glad to hid behind Mirth, even though he could see over their head.
Mirth nodded. 'You using it regularly?'
'Only had it once, but I want to try it again with you Mirth, if that's ok, to check it out. I mean, I might be crazy.' Zennick allowed. Looking at Doxod's bland look would make anyone unsure.
Mirth looked back at him and hissed. 'Dude, no. Firm.'
Zennick swallowed and pulled off his jacket showing the v front of the vest, and very low slung back, a boobtube of silver spidersilk showing as a band. He stood a little firmer. 'You don't have to believe me, Doxod. I wanted to let you know about something, and it's up to you if you listen. I can't make you smarter.' And with that, he turned and walked off to the carpeted area where he'd drunk the tea, huffing to himself, trying to be firm.
Behind, Mirth poked out their tongue to Doxod, smiling, and followed behind their friend.
Doxod rolled his eyes and smiled, watching them thoughtfully. He then turned and went back to the motorbike he'd been working on with Quixiup, the older fairy watching him with a gleam in faer eyes.
Zennick sat down on a pillow on the edge of the carpet area and pulled out a bottle with a stopper, a bright blue liquid sloshing around inside it.
Mirth, close behind, took a seat next to him but baulked when they saw the fluid. 'Oh, so you were serious when you said you wanted me to try it with you?' They said pulling back from the bottle.
Zennick grabbed their hand. 'It's important to me, Mirth. This isn't 'drugs are bad' end of story. I think something else is going on with the drugs, and Giant's Tears is one of them. I was told to thin it out with water or something, so it's not potent or dangerous, but we can have someone wake us up with this powder,' he said pulling out a white powder from his other pants pocket, 'it'll wake us up. It's not a drug! You can get it from your doctor when someone collapses. I've had it for... a while.'
Mirth looked at the powder and the blue liquid. 'You know how much I hate drugs, Mirth.' They said, not moving away, but there was a sense of disturb.
Zennick nodded. 'And if it was just us, I wouldn't usually push, but I'm pushing. I'll go alone though if you won't help me.' He looked Mirth in the eye, more resolute than Mirth had seen him before, holding out the powder. Or more than they'd he'd shown them.
