I woke up to the sound of the coffee maker brewing and the smell of breakfast. I usually wake up pretty fast, but this time I came in second.
I get up from bed and make my way over to the source of the smell and sound, the kitchen. There I spot my wonderful girlfriend Val on her phone on the living room couch. She hasn't noticed me yet so I sneak up on her to scare her like they do in those romantic movies.
I sneak on my toes and eventually reach her, grabbing her shoulders and yelling loudly. "Boo!" I yelled. She threw her phone about a few feet in the air vertically and gasped for air loudly. "You're a dickhead! I could have broken my phone!" She shouted back.
"You didn't though! It's funny, you have to admit." I bragged. She rolled her eyes and continued. "There's some coffee in the kitchen if you'd like." She said and pointed towards the kitchen counters."No thanks, I don't drink coffee. It's bad for your heart." I said.
She looked at me like she'd heard wrong and asked me to repeat. "Excuse me? Who doesn't like coffee?"
She looks at me with attitude and a questioning stare."Well, I never forced myself to like it as a teen or a kid, so I never got addicted. I can't imagine being hooked on some ground beans." I laughed. "I mean, a lot of coffee drinkers use it as an excuse to be a dickhead, saying things like 'don't talk to me before my morning coffee' or just being rude to people and blaming it on the lack of a simple drink. No hate to you babe, but I won't be joining that crowd."
I said and walked over to the fridge for something else to drink, but after finding nothing I decide to just have some water.I see Val looking at me with disbelief when I close the fridge and face her again. "I'm sorry that you feel that way, you'll never get the satisfaction that coffee brings." She said looking away and taking a very loud and exaggarated sip from her mug. "Ehh, whatever. Did you know that an apple can wake you up just as efficiently?" I said and drank the rest of my glass.
We both laughed, deciding to stop bickering about useless things. "So, school today?" Val asks. Ah shit, forgot that I have to go back. I promised to talk to my dad though so I'll have to skip one last and final day. After today I'll work hard for good grades to end high school with a bang. "Yeah, I need to go see my dad today so I'll go back tomorrow." I explained to her.
We spent an hour or two just doing morning things like eating breakfast and taking care of hygiene. I figure it's about time I get going, seeing as my dad is already waiting.
"I'll start heading out now if that's alright. My dad's probably losing his patience." I told Val.
"Yes of course, let me know when your dad wants to meet me. Since you're supposed to have a heart to heart talk today anyways you might aswell give him a date, alright? I'll adjust to whatever time works for him." She said, reminding me.I can't wait for them to finally be introduced, it has really been a long time coming. "Sure, I'll let you know when were done talking." I informed her and started to put my shoes on.
She walks over to me to give me a goodbye kiss before I walk out the door. I make my way down the stairs and start walking home since I didn't come by bike yesterday. Forgot all about that, walking is going to take a while.
I walk and I walk and I walk until I reach my appartment, finally. Well, it's my dad's, but whatever.
I turn the keys in the lock and open the door, revealing my father sitting on the couch watching tv."Hey dad." I said, letting my presence be known.
He looked over and tapped the couch beside him, telling me to sit next to him. "So, talk time, huh?" He said as I sat.
"Yeah, I guess. Been a while." I replied dryly. I'm not really sure which one of us should start but I'll let him ask the questions since I'm sure he has plenty.
