WHEN WALKING INTO THE WINDING space of colorful walls, alcoves and stairwells towards the fourth game venue, (Y/n) looked up and almost couldn't believe the sight before her: one circle-masked guard, two triangle-masked guards, and one square-masked guard hung up on a shifting wire with player 111 in the middle.
All were dead.
"Players, what you witness before you is what remains of those who broke the rules for their own benefit," Yeong-gi stated, his fingers curling into fists when catching (Y/n)'s stare. "They tainted the pure and fair ideology everything here has been built upon. Each and everyone one of you is considered an equal within the walls of this facility. You must be guaranteed the same opportunities without being disadvantaged or facing any kind of discrimination. We truly apologize for allowing such an unacceptable incident to occur."
They then continued forward.
Sang-woo snaked through the line without the guards catching sight of him and sidled up to (Y/n), placing one hand on the small of her back and saying, "It's me."
"I see that," she murmured. "What do you want though?"
"I've observed your reactions to the games... and do you know what I noticed? You have no reaction," he said, his grip on her waist tightening in a threatening and possessive manner. "That means you already knew what the games were beforehand. So tell me... what is this game?"
"You play marbles with someone," she smirked, deciding not to tell him to partner with someone whom he didn't particularly care about.
If he didn't, his partner would die if they lost.
She wondered what he'd do.
"Then we should pair up," he suggested, something that made her laugh out loud while he merely narrowed his eyes at her reaction. "You're strong. You're smart. You seem to always be a couple of steps ahead. It would be foolish of me not to want to partner with you."
"I see..." she tapped a finger to her lips as if she were considering it. "...but the thing is, I don't want to partner with you."
