You came back home just in time. However, when you opened up the door, you didn't get a chance to announce yourself. The sounds of weeping coming from the kitchen were too loud to ignore. It took you a second to realize it was your mother.
Sneaking into the kitchen, you see the Mrs sobbing on your father's shoulders. "What am I gonna do!?" She'd cry out. You wondered what had happened, it was rare for her to be home so early and even rarer for her to be crying a river.
Your father finally notices you standing there. He only hushed you away, giving you the saddest smile you've ever seen. You took the hint and tipped away, though you were anxious to know what happened. Why was your mother sobbing and wailing so loudly. Did someone Die? Still, you tried your best to push those thoughts away and sneaked into your room. You huffed, dropping your bag down and helplessly flopped straight down your bed. Taking out your phone, you realized that your bandmates have been texting amongst each other, each giving an update on their own personal practice.
(y/n)! Did you get a chance to look at the music sheet? Sent By Annx
I got a good read out of it, but I gotta practice it on the guitar. Sent by (Username).
You quickly shoot a reply and decided to check on your social media. All of you had access to the band's instagram page. The page itself had around almost 10k followers, which may not seem like a lot for some, but it was wayy more than you thought you'd end up having.
You hummed to yourself, maybe it was time to post another update?
Getting up from your bed, you go ahead and set up your guitar next to your bed. You open the camera, angling your phone to take a good picture of your sick, precious guitar. You took a couple of pictures before deciding on one. You showed off its beauty without showing too much of your room, posting the picture with the caption "Gorgeous."
Your guitar was your prized possession, why not show it off a little bit?
You waited a bit. Your post didn't take too long to be spammed with likes and comments. Some comments praised your guitar, while others would ask questions about it or about the band.
Did you make the group chat? A notification popped up. It was Dee. You have forgotten all about the group chat, not that you had a chance to make it. Without replying, you quickly added both Diana and Dee in a group chat. You changed the title to "Group Project" and left it at that.
You heard the sound of a knock. You looked up from your phone to find your father, smiling down at you. "Hey buddy," He spoke softly, taking a step into your room and sitting next to you in your bed. "Listen, I have some..pretty good news and some pretty bad news." He started off. Your dad could be sort of an awkward person, so this behavior wasn't fully new, however, he seemed a little more nervous than usual. You quickly realized that the news were involved with your mother's sudden weeping, that alone made you nervous yourself.
"Your mom, uhm, well, she was laid off from work." He started, "But! We are going to be fine! This won't change your school life or your band, in fact, I think this is a good thing! You'll see your mom more often and.." You pretty much stopped listening after that. How long has it been since you've seen your mom on the daily? It must've been years. You knew you should've felt happy, or some sort of positive emotion, but you felt tensed. With the short amount of time you had with your mom, she made it clear she did not support the career path you chose for yourself.
"I will need to start working full time in order to support us, so your mom agreed she will manage your band until she finds another job."
She what?
Your eyes widened in shock. You weren't sure if you heard that right. Your mom agreed to manage Ugly Ducklings? If anything, you thought she'd convince your dad to make you drop the group. "I thought mom didn't like Ugly Ducklings." you quickly stated. Your dad opened his mouth only to quickly shut it, clearly lost for words. "Well, she uh..doesn't fully understand how much it means to you." He chuckled nervously, "But I believe this will be good for you and your relationship with your mom! She won't do much, she'll basically be a chaperone for you and your mates! It's a chance for her to see your progress!"
It was nice to see your dad try to make this situation not sound bad, but you were sure even he noticed the awkward relationship you had with your mom. Still, you pulled out a smile, furrowing your eyebrows as you give your dad a pitiful, but grateful look. "Alright, I guess that should be fine."
With a sigh of relief, your father decided to leave you be for the rest of the night.
You did your nightly routine, getting into your Pjs and sitting by your bed. You took your phone again, immediately scrolling down to your band's group chat.
Dad won't be our manager for a few months. Sent by (Username).
You also realized that Diana replied to your new group chat.
Hiya~! When should we meet up? I have cheerleading practice, but we can meet up during the weekend if that is okay.
You thought of ignoring it, but decided against it. You already read it, she could see that. You think for a moment, meeting up classmates that you don't really get along with sounds exhausting. You convinced yourself to agree anyway, it was better to get things over with than trying to avoid them.
Sounds good to me.
With a sigh, you placed your phone down by your nightstand.
You reach upwards and grabbed a fistful of your hair. You groaned out of stress, closing your eyes tightly as you took out your irritation by pulling your hair. You had so much shit to get done, and so little time. The group project, your mom managing your band, Diana.
You let go after the longest minute of your life. Letting your hands flop down in defeat. you let yourself fall down the bed. Falling into slumber took longer than usual, but eventually you managed to fall asleep.

AN: Hello all! I managed to pull out two chapters. I know they aren't as exciting as some of the past chapters, but I hope they are still good enough!
With that being said, I'd love to get some feedback or opinion about the certain topic.
Would you all like for me to speed up (y/n)'s and Dee's relationship? Or is my pace okay? I will try my best to get more things done in the next 5 chapters or so, but I feel like I am going a bit too slow and would like some opinions on this.
(y/n) and Dee will not go from being friends to dating in a matter of 2 chapters, but I can definitely get Dee and (y/n) to crush on each other faster. About Lif, I do not want to make her a villain to my story, but I do want her to cause some conflict (whether it was intentional or not). Please let me know what you think of this idea too :)
Thank you for taking your time on reading my fanfic <3
