A couple days had passed since Ayato had caught Ayaka. They haven't spoken too much since, there was a lot of awkward tension. Eventually Ayato knew he couldn't keep going on like this, he decided to finally confront Ayaka. He searched around and eventually found her organizing some furniture.
"Hello Ayaka, I wanted to have a small talk with you" Ayato said awkwardly.
"Oh um, sure" Ayaka responded nervously.
The two sat down with a small bit of silence. Ayato then broke the silence.
"I'm going to get straight to the point" Ayato said now looking right at her, "What exactly is going on with you and Kokomi?"
"I guess there's no point in hiding it anymore" She said taking a deep breath, "It is true that I am in a relationship with Kokomi, it's only been a while though"
"Why haven't you told me sooner?" Ayato questioned.
"I didn't know if you'd be ok with it" Ayaka said as she turned away.
Ayato put his hand on her reassuringly.
"Why would you think that? All I care for is your wellbeing" Ayato replied as he pulled her into a hug.
They hugged for a minute before he pulled away, his smile faded as he began to think. He had something else he wanted to ask her about.
"Is there something wrong?" She asked.
"I'm just curious" Ayato said.
"About what?" Ayaka questioned.
"How did you know you were in love?" He replied.
Ayaka was shocked at his question at first before she turned to a kind smile.
"It's just a very complicated subject with me, every time I attempt to get into romance it never works, I've never felt that spark people talk of" Ayato explains.
"Well the way I describe it is that it's a feelings, when you're with the one you love everything is different" She explained, "With friends you can have fun times and laugh together and enjoy each others company, but with a lover everything feels more special, even the way you look at them as something special"
Ayato seemed a slight bit confused. Ayaka let out a sigh before she spoke again.
"You'll understand eventually, why did you ask about it anyway?" She asked.
"Well I was asked about my marriage again, the people are becoming more curious, I don't know how much longer I can ignore it" Ayato said.
"Maybe it's time to confront the problem" Ayaka suggested.
"Maybe" Ayato said quietly, "well anyway, thank you Ayaka"
"My pleasure" Ayaka responded.
Ayato left the room and rushed back to his desk. He started to sort through his documents trying to decide what to do. Eventually he came to the conclusion that it was time for him to finally do something. He started writing out letters and creating announcements for the event. He worked late into the night before he went to bed, ready to spread the news.
Ayato woke up early to get everything organized for his day. A few minutes later, Thoma awoke and came over to Ayato to ask for his tasks for the day.
"Good morning my lord, what do you have for me today?" Thoma asked.
Ayaka entered the room right behind him.
"Good morning you two, I have something very important to announce" Ayato said as he stood up, "I have finally decided it is time for me to look for my future wife. I spent all night preparing everything"
Ayato turned back to look at Thoma.
"Thoma I need you to go around the city and pass out these flyers, also post them around anywhere you can" Ayato said as he handed Thoma a stack of flyers.
"Oh, of course my lord" Thoma said.
"Could I go with him? I want to help out" Ayaka asked.
"Of course, just make sure you pass out as many as you can" Ayato said, "now go quickly, there's still much to do"
Ayaka and Thoma left he estate and made their way to the city. For the whole trip, Ayaka seemed very happy.
"This is amazing news Thoma, aren't you excited?" Ayaka asked.
"Oh yes, it's quite amazing" Thoma responded.
For some unknown reason he wasn't as excited as he should be. Something about the situation didn't seem right to him. He continued along though, helping to spread the news.
"How about we split up? I will go this way and you go that way, we'll cover much more ground faster" Ayaka suggested.
"Yes that's a great idea" Thoma responded.
He gave half of the flyers to Ayaka and continued down the path. No matter what Thoma did he couldn't shake the feeling he had, was he getting sick?
"Why don't I feel happier? This is a huge event, yet it doesn't seem right. I'll get better soon, it's probably just some weird feeling" Thoma said to himself, "It won't last too long, right?"
