Ayato waited until the news made its way around the nation before he carried on with his plan. Once everyone was informed, he called all to join him for the official announcement. Ayato was just about to step up and give his speech, he was feeling very nervous.
"Alright Ayato, everyone is waiting for you" Ayaka said as she checked on the crowd.
"Well then, here goes nothing" He replied as he stood on stage.
He looked out at the large crowd before him. They began to cheer once he stepped out. Ayato took a deep breath to clear his nerves and then spoke.
"Welcome everyone, thank you all for joining me this morning for this event. As most of you should know, this is my official announcement, I have decided to finally begin looking for marriage" Ayato spoke.
The crowd exploded into a loud cheer. Ayato let out a nervous smile.
"Over the course of a few weeks I'll be getting to know the lovely, ladies that have been nominated as my future wife" Ayato said, "so let me introduce our candidates"
4 women were chosen to compete for Ayato's hand in marriage. There would have been more but due to the news coming out suddenly many weren't able to participate.
(This isn't part of the story I just wanna say I did some research trying to figure out who to have as these candidates, this story doesn't completely line up with the regular story)
"Our first candidate is Kujou Sara," Ayato announced.
Kujou Sara walked up onto stage to introduce herself.
"Good morning everyone, my name is Kujou Sara. I am part of the Tenryou Commission and work as a Tengu warrior, I am also part of the Kujou clan" She said.
After Kujou Sara's introduction, Ayato called up the next candidate.
"Our next candidate is Beidou," Ayato announced.
(We had a severe lack of notable females for this so I'm working with I got)
Beidou stepped up onto the stage and gave her introduction.
"Hello everyone, I am Beidou. I am the captain of The Crux. I mainly work on traveling between nations with exports" Beidou stated.
(Alright so this where I really ran out of idea so now we got some NPC's like that one girl we met at the beginning of the Inazuma story)
"Our third candidate is, Hiiragi Chisato," Ayato announced.
"Good morning everyone, my name is Hiiragi Chisato, I am part of the Kanjou Commision in Ritou, I also come from the Hiiragi Clan" She said.
(I had to do a lot of research just to see if I could actually use this NPC as a candidate, the fourth I mean)
"Lastly our final candidate was chosen by Lady Guuuji herself to participate, let us welcome Maki"
"Greetings everyone, I don't have much to say other than I work as a shrine maiden at the Narukami shrine. I was chosen to participate and I gladly accept"
"Now that all of our candidates have been introduced, we will begin our events with a welcoming party tonight. During this party I will be able to get to know all these ladies more" Ayato said, "thank you everyone for coming out today, we will keep you informed on everything after, have a wonderful day."
Once the crowd began to disperse, Ayato confronted the ladies.
"My servants here will guide you to the next location, after the party they will also guide you to your respective living quarters, I cannot wait to get to know you all" Ayato said.
Ayato then met up with Ayaka and Thoma.
"You did great out there, I can't wait for the party tonight" Ayaka said happily.
"Thank you, and yes we must prepare, Thoma did you remember to check on the venue?" Ayato asked.
Thoma seemed like he was lost in thought but quickly snapped back.
"Oh yes, everything is ready for the party, all that is left is for the guests to arrive" Thoma responded.
"Lovely, let us return home then to prepare," Ayato said.
Something still seemed wrong to Thoma, he couldn't understand what the problem was though. He didn't want to make it a problem though so he continued to keep it to himself.
Night soon approached and so it was time for the welcoming party. The trio arrived slightly later than everyone else.
"Now you two can enjoy the party out here, I must go inside that private room and greet the candidates, I'll meet with you later" Ayato said as he left the room.
Ayato entered the room with all the candidates, he stood on a small stage and began to greet the women.
"Good evening ladies, thank you all for attending this welcoming party. I cannot wait to get to know you all, I hope you enjoy all the arrangements. Now let's begin this party" Ayato stated.
The women began to sit and enjoy the food served to them, one by one Ayato began to talk to each of them individually, starting with Kujou Sara.
"Good evening Kujou Sara, are you enjoying yourself?" Ayato asked.
"Yes, this party is quite nice," She responded.
Ayato wasn't too sure what he should talk about, he had no previous experience.
"Tell me more about yourself, what are you interested in?" He asked.
"Well personally, I'm very devoted to my work, devoted to the Shogun. Work does get quite tiring at times, I do wish to have time to relax more often, in a way this event is a way to relax" She said as she let out a small laugh.
The two continued to talk for a bit longer before Ayato excused himself to speak with the other ladies.
"Hello Beidou, are you enjoying the party?" Ayato asked.
"It is pretty nice, I do enjoy a good party," Beidou responded.
"Wonderful, tell me more about yourself Beidou," Ayato said.
"Well as you already know I'm the captain of The Crux. I travel around Teyvat transporting shipments, it's a great job, it allows me to be free and see the world" Beidou explains.
"That sounds wonderful," Ayato responded.
The party continued on later into the night, the small group all discussed their lives including things such as their hobbies, jobs, likes, dislikes, and more. Throughout the party though, Ayato hadn't felt interested in anything any of them said. He tried his best to get to know them but he couldn't focus, all he could focus on was his nerves.
Soon the party was coming to an end, all the women began to get escorted to their living quarters and Ayato went to meet with Thoma and Ayaka.
"There you two are, how was the party for you?" Ayato asked.
"I had a great time, I can't wait to see what other events you have planned," Ayaka responded.
"That's wonderful," Ayato said.
He turned to look at Thoma, he noticed he didn't look too happy.
"Thoma what's the matter? You don't look too well" Ayato questioned.
"Oh it's nothing my lord, I just don't feel too good right now" Thoma responded.
"Are you getting sick? If so we should return home now, everyone has already left so we can leave" Ayato said as he stood up, "your off duty for now Thoma until you get better"
Thoma was surprised by Ayato's response, a smile appeared on his face as he followed after him. The three returned home as quickly as possible, ready for tomorrow's plans.
