Chapter 10: I'm Sorry

     After his argument with Ayaka, Ayato decided to head up to the Narukami shrine to clear his head. He wasn't too sure what he was looking for but he was desperate.

(I just wanna mention while thinking of this part I imagined it as gay seeking guidances from fellow gays)

Once he reached the top he entered the shrine and stood there for a moment, not too sure what to do. Before he could do something, a familiar voice called out to him.

"Lord Kamisato? What a surprise" The voice said.

Ayato turned around and saw Kujou Sara entering the shrine.

"Ah good evening Kujou Sara, pleasure to meet you again" Ayato replied.

He tried masking up his emotions as to not cause worry.

"So, may I ask what brings you up here?" Ayato asked.

"Well I like to come up here often to pay my respects, any time I can" She replied, "what about you?"

"Ah well, I'm just feeling a bit stressed. I'm not sure if you've heard yet since I just passed out the news earlier today but there had been an incident" Ayato said.

"I don't believe I have heard," She said.

"Well you see, I had caught one of the candidates having an affair" He stated, "It happened during the party last night, I was so shocked I just needed time off from any events"

"I see, that makes sense. Everyone was quite worried when you called off the event" She said.

"Please excuse the interruption, it was just very unexpected" Ayato said.

"No worries, I don't mind" She replied, "but I must ask, what else is bothering you?"

Her question caught him off guard but he managed to keep his composure.

"What do you mean by that?" He asked.

"I can tell that something more is happening, you're trying to hide it" She replied.

"Ah I see, well you caught me there" He said, "I'm assuming you don't know this either but I had made the decision to push the wedding up, there's only one week now"

"That's quite a big choice to make, are you sure it's a good idea?" She questioned.

"Yes, otherwise I wouldn't have made it" He responded.

"Well in that case, I wish you luck" She replied, "With such little time left I only hope for you to choose someone worthy of your time. Don't be careless about your choice"

Ayato stood there for a moment, her words hit a little harder than he thought. In return he gave her a small smile.

"Thank you, I promise to make the right choice" Ayato said, "now if you'll excuse me I must return home, it's getting late"

"Oh of course, have a lovely night," Kujou Sara said.

"You too," Ayato replied.

He entered the shrine with many questions and left with an idea.

After another 2 days of no activity, Ayato finally planned another event. It was very simple but he needed something on short notice. The day of the event he gave out another speech.

"Good afternoon everyone and thank you for joining us today. I would like to apologize for not communicating with you better about what has happened" Ayato announced, "but as you should all know we have unfortunate news. The candidate Hiiragi Chisato was caught having an affair and has now been disqualified."

Ayato hesitated for a bit as he thought back to that night but quickly snapped back.

"We will continue on without her" He stated, "as for now I have a simple day planned for us, thanks to the kindness of my sister Kamisato Ayaka, we will have a small performance done by her"

Ayaka came onto stage and greeted everyone.

"Now without further ado, here is Ayaka"

Ayaka got into position and began her dance. Ayato was very grateful she had agreed to this after their argument, he hadn't gotten the time to properly apologize to her so he thought he may do it after her performance. Once Ayaka completed her dance the crowd clapped and cheered.

"Thank you Ayaka once again for that lovely dance, again I apologize for the small event for today, but now I will go around and speak to you all again" Ayato announced.

Ayato stepped down from his stage and began to walk around. As he did he noticed that Thoma was absent as he expected, but he still hoped he would arrive.

"Greetings Kujou Sara, did you enjoy the performance?" Ayato asked.

"Very much, your sister is quite talented," Kujou Sara replied.

"She really is, every time I watched her practice she always told me she thought it wasn't good enough and I always assured her that she was doing wonderfully" Ayato said, "but anyways, what have you been doing these past few days?"

"I've actually gotten time to go back to work for a bit so this small break was actually very helpful" She responded.

"That's great to hear," he replied.

Ayato continued catching up with everyone, afterwards he located Ayaka and pulled her away for a conversation.

"Ayaka? Do you mind stepping away for a moment, I'd like to speak to you" He said.

The two stepped away from the crowd and Ayato began to apologize.

"Ayaka I want to apologize for everything, I never meant to say those things, I regretted it as soon as I said it" Ayato stated.

"I know you didn't mean it, but I don't think I'm the one you should be apologizing to" Ayaka replied, "after I left you alone I found Thoma, he had heard everything you said and you left him heartbroken."

Ayato was shocked, he realized what he had done.

"I didn't mean any of it," Ayato pleaded.

"Then tell him that, not me," Ayaka responded.

"I will, but I can't right now. I need time to think about how to make it up to him, "he said.

"Well don't take to long, he's been completely destroyed over this" She said, "what you plan, make it worth it"

With that Ayaka left Ayato alone again. He had to do something but what. Since the event was so short he had plenty of time afterward to think. Then suddenly he knew what he had to do, he couldn't just apologize, he had to tell him the truth.

Ayato made his way to Inazuma city and went to a jewelry shop.

"Lord Kamisato? What brings you here today?" The shop owner asked.

"I need to purchase the best ring you have," Ayato firmly stated.

"Ah I see, preparing for the wedding, I've had the perfect ring made just for this once I heard the news" The owner said.

They headed into the back to retrieve the most beautiful ring Ayato had ever seen.

"Thank you very much, keep the extra change," Ayato said.

He returned home with the rings and hid them away. Step one of his plan was done, now it was time for the rest. He was certain of what he had to do, he couldn't contain the truth any longer. Kamisato Ayato is in love with Thoma.
