For Beatrice-
Dead women tell no tales.
Sad men write them down.

After a great deal of time, where the orphans sat upon the submarine, trying to get their way in, and finally getting the password right that would let them. They climbed down the hatch at the top, as the submarine went back into the ocean, the orphans went into, what looks to be, the navigation room. "Look at this equipment." "These tidal charts. The submarine must be looking for something." Klaus said as he handed the charts to Ana.

"Right you are, Baudelaires, and the other orphan. Welcome to the Queequeg. Shiver me timbers." A girl who looked to be Violet's age spoke, before coming down a pole to meet the orphans. "That's a phrase pirates use when they are surprised." "Are you a pirate?" "No, but I am surprised to see Klaus, Violet, and Sunny Baudelaire, as well as Anastasia O'Malley, in the middle of the ocean." "How do you know who we are? Wait, from the Daily Punctilio?" Ana asked. The girl in a sailor suit only nodded in response. "But you can't believe everything you read in the newspaper."

"So you're not dangerous?" The girl asked, eyeing Klaus up and down. Klaus stumbled over his words, trying to tell whether or not they were dangerous. "What he means to say, is that we aren't murderers." Ana corrected for her boyfriend, who gave a sigh of relief and look of gratitude to her. "I'm sorry. What is your name?" Violet asked. "Fiona Widdershins. I'm the captain of this ship."

"I haven't been for long. That's my stepfather, the original Captain Widdershins. He's gone now." Fiona said, pointing at a painting of a man. "We're orphans too." "He's not dead. He left one day to answer a distress call from a manatee and never came back." Fiona snapped at Klaus.
"Do you think you could take us to shore?" "We can't change course. We're in the middle of a mission. It's hard working alone, but VFD is counting on me." "Well what if you weren't alone? If we helped with your mission, you could take us to the Last Safe Place, or at least the shore." Ana offered. "Darling, there's no time. The meeting is on Thursday." Klaus whispered. "It's fine. It's a few days away anyway." "We don't even know what the mission is."

"Only the most important mission in VFD history. I'm looking for the sugar bowl." "As in Esme Squalor's sugar bowl. The one that was in Heimlich Hospital, before it went down in flames. That sugar bowl?"

"Yes, however, one of our agents got to it first. She brought it to the VFD headquarters, but it fell into Stricken Stream, where it wound up into the ocean. That's why the Queequeg is the only hope of finding it." Fiona explained. "What's so important about it?" "Both sides of the schism are after it. Some say it's the reason for the schism itself." "Well what's in it?" Violet asked. "Sugar?" Ana joked. "That's top secret. It's on a need to know basis, and you don't need to know." Fiona snapped at Violet. "Well I don't take orders unless I know the facts."

"How about, we um find the sugar bowl, so we can ya know look inside and see what's in it?" Ana suggested, looking at Klaus to back her up. "Yeah. I think that's a great idea." "You sound like Cookie, he's always saying cheery stuff like that. He's another crewman. He's in charge of meals, though his cooking's a little heavy on the gum." Fiona explained, calling out for the man. What the Baudelaires, and Ana expected, seeing first the peg leg, to be a mean man. However, as the man came out more, it seemed to be a familiar face from a certain lumber mill.

"Baudelaires! Anastasia!" "Phil!" The orphans said as they went to hug their dear friend. "I'm glad you got out of that terrible mill." "I always knew I could do better than working as an unpaid mill worker. Now look where I am! I'm working as a cook on an understaffed submarine!" Phil exclaimed. "Phil, I just want to say I'm sorry for the accident." Klaus said, ushering to the fact Phil is missing a leg. "No, no, no. That healed ages ago." "Then what happened to your leg?" "It was bitten by a shark."
