Mick POV:
On my way back to my seat from the toilet I walked past Delancy. She was sitting next to a window, so I wasn't able to see her face immediately. But then I froze.
She was crying.
After seeing her like that, I forgot everything else. I just had her in front of me. Sitting there, crying silently, being broken.
I don't want her to be sad. I don't want her to cry. Especially not over people who wronged her.
So, I sat down next to her, gently pulled her into my arms and placed her head on my chest. She was cold like ice. My gaze softened when I noticed her body moving more towards me. While she was sleeping, I didn't stop to gently carress her back and hold her safely.
I need to know what happened. I will find that out.
And I did. Her best friend, Charles Leclerc wronged her. Blamed her for today's race. My heart ached when I noticed how her eyes got watery and her hands started to shake. Knowing her well, I pulled her into a hug. I know she hates when people see her like this. So, I made sure that no one sees her like that. Even not me.
But I'm thankful. I'm thankful for her opening up to me.
"It's okay to cry. Especially when there's a lot on your mind. You see, clouds do that too when things get too heavy."
I whispered while having my head on hers. I felt the need to hold her like this forever. To protect her from anyone who just looks at her the wrong way.
But could I admit that? Never.
Delancy POV:
When I opened my eyes, I realised that I fell asleep again. I fell asleep in his arms again. For the second time.
It took me a moment to remember what happened and how I ended up in his arms.
"Oh, you're awake sleepyhead." I looked up and met his ocean blue eyes. He was smiling at me and the embarrassment of showing emotions in front of him disappeared.
"I had a long day."
He chuckled. "And using me as your bed is the best thing to do, I assume?"
He didn't mention my crying once or address the race. He joked around as if nothing happened.
"Well, you just happened to be here."
"I always happen to be there." He winked at me and I felt something jump in me. Being this close to him, being touched and then getting a wink from him released a strange feeling in me I couldn't name.
Not knowing what to say next I sat back up straight and fixed my hair. Then I heard his phone ringing. It was Sebastian. He was always flying with his family. The kids missed Mick, so they insisted to call him via Facetime.
I was just fixing my hair when one of them asked where I was. In the next second, Mick turned his phone to me so they could see me.
"HALLO TANTE DELAAANCY" ("HELLO AUNT DELAAANCY")
A big smile appeared on my face and I greeted them back. My cheekbones hurt because it was probably one of the few times I smiled today. But seeing the kids being happy to see me, made me feel loved. They told me about various things they did the last days and how exciting it was to see me win today.
After some time the call ended and I leaned back in the seat. "Now that was cute."
"It sure was. Such angels." He smiled and put his phone away. Then he looked out of the window.
