Later that night, I hear fireworks go off as I walk to the room I'll be staying in. I had said goodnight to the others and was walking along side Caspian and Edmund. Caspian stopped at a door and smiles at me, "This is your room. It has one of the best views in the whole castle." I smile at him and he opens the door for me. I look around and take in the beauty. I can feel a soft breeze coming from an open window and can see the scenery. It was breathtaking! I turn to Caspian, "Thank you." He nods and begins to walk off. Edmund clears his throat and I turn around. I walk over to him and grab his hands. "I'll see you in the morning." His smile fades and he nods before giving me a kiss on my forehead. He quickly catches up to Caspian and he shows him to his room. I watch them walk away, smiling to myself. Then I closed the door and walked towards the window. The fireworks were still going off. Eventually I changed into a night gown and drifted off to sleep. I feel like I haven't slept in years.
I heard a knock on my door and I woke up immediately. "What..what's wrong? Is everything alright?" I say as I rub my eyes. The door opens and once my eyes focused, I could see that it was Edmund. He was all dressed and had a huge smile on his face. "May I come in?" I nod and he walks in, shutting the door behind him. "I can see that you got some much needed rest." He says, laughing, as he walks over to me. I yawn and stretch and sit up. He sits down on the bed in front of me and tucks my hair behind my ears. "Everyone has gathered. I'm ready to go when you are." I smile at him and nod. He helps me get up and I look around the room. "I don't have a dress to wear." He smiles and points at a blue dress that is sitting on a chair. "How'd that get there?" I say as I put my hands on my hips. He laughs to himself. "You're a really heavy sleeper. Susan dropped it off this morning." I remind myself to thank her and then Edmund leaves so I can get dressed. I walk out and the others are waiting for me. Lucy runs over and gives me a big hug. Susan smiles at me as I thank her for the dress. Peter and Caspian both compliment my dress which causes me to smile. Peter and Susan seem a little sad which makes me worry. I look over at Caspian and he seems to be just as worried as I am.
I stand in the front of the crowd of people as the siblings and Caspian walk up to join the others. Caspian began to speak, "Narnia belongs to the Narnians just as it does to man. Any Telmarines who want to stay and live in peace are welcome to. And for any of you who wish, Aslan will return you to the home of our forefathers." A Telmarine soldier responded with, "It has been generations since we left Telmar." Caspian only shook his head. "We are not referring to Telmar. Your ancestors were sea-faring brigands, pirates run aground on an island. There they found a cave, a rare chasm that brought them here from their world, the same world as our kings and queens." Aslan, standing across from the siblings, turns his attention to them. "It is to that island I can return you. It is a good place for any who wish to make a new start." There was a pause, and then the man who had grabbed me, who's name I had learned to be Glozelle, broke the silence. "I'll go. I will accept the offer." Then Miraz' wife, who was holding her baby, joined in. "So will we." They begin to walk forward and stand before Aslan. "Because you have spoken first, your future in that world will be good." Aslan breathes on them, and then the tree behind Caspian begins to twist and forms a round opening. They walk through the door and vanish from sight. Everyone gasps and I look at Aslan. "How do we know he is not leading us to our deaths?!" One Telmarine peasant blurts out. Reepicheep steps forward and looks at Aslan. "Sire, if my example can be of any service, I will take eleven mice though with no delay." Aslan instead looks at Peter and Susan and then I begin to realize why they seemed sad. Peter then steps forward, "We'll go." Edmund turned to face him, "We will?" My heart begins to sink. 'They can't leave again! I just got them back.' Peter looks at his siblings, "Come on. Our times up." Peter then walks over to Caspian and hands him his sword. "Afer all, we're not really needed here anymore." Caspian takes the sword. "I will look after it until your return." Susan shakes her head. "I'm afraid that's just it. ... We're not coming back." I look between the siblings and feel a wave of sadness rush over me. "We're not?" Lucy said, confused. "You two are." Peter says as he looks between Lucy and Edmund. He turns his attention to Aslan. "At least, I think he means you two." Lucy turns to Aslan, "But why? Did they do something wrong?" Aslan shakes his head, "Quite the opposite, dear one. But all things have their time. Your brother and sister have learned what they can from this world. Now it's time for them to live in their own." Peter turns to Lucy, "It's alright, Lu. It's not how I thought it would be, but it's alright. One day you'll see too. Come on." The siblings begin to say their goodbyes. Peter looks at me and waves his hand for me to join them. At this point I'm crying hysterically. He opens his arms and I hug him tightly. "Hey, don't worry Y/N." I wipe my tears and he smiles at me. "Thank you for being my friend. I'll never forget you and I hope you'll never forget me." I smile at him and nod before we embrace again. He squeezes my hand as he walks off. Susan wraps me in her arms and we hug each other, not wanting to let go. "You've been like a sister to me." Susan says as she lets go. We hold hands, smiling at each other. "I'll remember you, always." I say and we embrace once more. She walks over to Caspian and everyone goes silent. "I'm glad I came back." She says, smiling at Caspian. "I wish we had more time together." Susan laughs and responds with, "It would never have worked anyway." Caspian's expression turned to confusion, "Why not?" Susan shakes her head, "I am 1,300 years older than you." I laugh a little and watch as Susan begins to walk away. Then she turns around and kisses Caspian. I gasp and smile. 'Finally!' I say to myself. Then they embrace each other. Lucy responds, grossed out, "I'm sure when I'm older I'll understand." We all laugh and Edmund says, "I'm older and don't think I want to understand." Susan looks between us, "Oh, is that right?" Before Edmund can walk over to me, Lucy runs to me and wraps her arms around me. "We will see each other again Lucy." I say as I hold her, trying to hold back tears. "Can't you come with us?" I smile at her as she looks up. Suddenly, Aslan speaks from behind me. "Y/N may choose to go if she wishes, but she must understand that she cannot return." I nod at Aslan and look at Lucy. "I love you all, dearly. Narnia is my home and I don't think I'm ready to leave. I'll be here, waiting for your return." Lucy nods and walks over to her siblings as she wipes her tears away. Edmund walks over to me and we hug. I hold him, remembering what it feels like, because I know that I may not seem him for awhile. As we pull away he continues to hold me and we touch foreheads. "I'll come back for you." Edmund says before kissing me. He holds my face as a tear rolls down my cheek. "You better." As we pull away, he slowly releases my hands and walks back to his siblings. I wave goodbye to them, something I thought I'd never have to do again. This time I realized that everything would be different. Peter and Susan would not return. Lucy and Edmund would. They begin to walk through the opening in the tree and they take a final look at Narnia, Aslan, and me.
Then they were gone.
