(Y/n) swept away at grass clippings that had fallen on top of a concrete path that led straight up to the Raiden's Estate.

(E/c) eyes lifted upward when their owner heard a whistle trying to grab his attention.

A childish ginger could be seen walking up to the (H/c)ette.

"(Y/n)! My favorite comrade, how are you?" The ginger asked gleefully.

(Y/n) mentally deadpanned at the male before him, before straining a fake smile. "It's nice to see you again Duke Childe. And I've been swell," he greeted.

Childe hummed lightly, his eyes sparkling with nothing but excitement and mischief.

"I heard that Kunikuzushi's birthday is tonight and since, I, the wonderful Childe, have been invited... I decided to come a few hours early." Childe boasted.

The (H/c)ette hummed lightly in understanding. "Good idea before the streets become filled with carriages from everywhere," he retorted.

Childe then glanced over at the Estate, before holding a serious look as he looked back at the (H/c)-haired boy before him.

"How are you and your brother? And tell me the truth," Childe ordered in a calming but gentle voice.

(Y/n) stiffened up as his grip on the broom tightened, his (E/c) hues making contact with an oceanic set.

"We're surviving..." (Y/n) mumbled.

"(Y/n)..." Childe warned.

(Y/n) clutched his eyes shut before opening them once more.

"We might be kicked out of our apartment soon since Kazuha and I are barely making enough money to pay for rent... the only reason why we're still there is because of a tab that keeps ramping up," (Y/n) explained.

Childe frowned lightly. He hated to see (Y/n) and his brother so stumped and bothered.

But the thing that worried him the most?

The fact that neither of them would ask for help when they needed it.

"You know that I could help you, right?" Childe asked.

(Y/n) shook his head, and tapped Childe on the tip of his nose with the end of the broom.

"Childe, no matter how many times you say that," (Y/n) started.

"You'll always say no, and that you both can handle it," Childe finished with a heavy sigh of disappointment leaving his lips.

The (H/c)-haired male gently smiled at the ginger before him. "Good boy... at least you remember my answer, every single time," he teasingly praised.

Childe became flustered but playfully glared at the (H/c)ette boy. "I'm not a dog," he retorted.

(Y/n) smirked. "You act like it," he replied as he went back to sweeping away the grass clippings that were still on the path.

Childe's face calmed down as he released a heavy sigh from his lips. "You and your brother need to ask for help... at least once," he piped up.

(Y/n) smiled a bit at the ground, knowing that he and Kazuha should, but they promised to be independent around others... and dependent on each other.

If (Y/n) was honest, he and his brother didn't trust the people that they were around almost every single day.

The last time they got attached to someone, it ended up with them nearly being ported out of the city.

"Maybe one day," (Y/n) finally said, breaking the silence.

Childe shook his head. "That "one day" better be soon," he replied.

The (E/c)-eyed boy just mutely nodded as Childe said his goodbyes.

(Y/n) closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening them.

"I wish," he whispered.

Yae Miko crossed her arms over her chest, gazing at Childe's figure who was walking in the direction of the Estate, and away from (Y/n)'s figure.

"What are you looking at, Miko?" Ei asked, glancing at the pink-haired female as she sat at her desk.

Yae Miko hummed lightly and sent a smile toward her partner. "Oh, nothing much. I'm just thinking about something," she answered.

Ei leaned against the palm of her hand, and lightly tapped the end of a pen on the wooden table.

"That Kaedehara boy," Ei began.

Yae Miko raised a brow. "Kaedehara (Y/n)? What about him?" She asked, curious about what the female wanted to talk about.

Ei frowned as she made eye contact with the other female in the room.

"He's all that Kunikuzushi talks about," Ei murmured.

"Isn't that good? He's talking to someone who's his age, and is making a friend," Yae Miko points out.

Ei shook her head, "This (Y/n) person... is making Kunikuzushi rebel against his teachers."

Yae Miko sighed heavily. 'He was already rebelling against them, and now you just notice? But of course, you have to blame someone else.' She thought in disappointment.

"If you plan on doing something to that boy, Ei. Please do realize you'll be making a mistake," Yae Miko said with a strained smile.

Ei stayed silent as she watched the pink-haired female leave the room.

"What do you mean by that... Miko?"
