I've been aching like the sun when night falls, the star as it waits to fall, and the shadows cast on the ground as the sun waits to fall. I've been longing to live in a world that appeared to be a dream. Was this my moment in existence? If that's the case, I'll never regret fading away. It's only a little conversation. They had no idea that our little conversation was why I waited for the sun to set; it had become my only reason to smile.

Suddenly everything seems so blissful. if this is a dream, I don't want to wake up. Ever.

Alas,  every happiness came at the expense of misery.

My phone buzzed with the call from the reception. It must be Linda calling to inform me of my upcoming appointments for the day. Today was a bit different, I was looking forward for it.

"It's Alex." Her voice falters.

My heart leaps into my throat and I can't seem to find my voice. I knew what that tone meant.

Adrenaline has flooded my bloodstream. I fight hard to maintain my composure. I hang up and exit my office.

My stomach sank further with each step I took.

When I reached the entrance of the emergency ward, I saw a thin crowd of nurses and paramedics strolling a stretcher with a still figure. Alex.

My breath turned shallow. My vision started to blur for a second and my steps faltered.

Inhale, Exhale. I repeated to myself.

"Xander, wake up! Why isn't my baby waking up?" a middle-aged lady sobbed holding his hand.
But no matter how loud the lady screamed, or how hard she cried, he remained unmoved and pale. Everyone around him was yelling and running around except me, I went stock still unable to feel anything.

"He needs oxygen, IV adrenaline, and a liter of saline wide open."

"His pulse is dropping."
