The urge to leave this place was coursing through my veins

The urge to leave this place was coursing through my veins. However, I can't do that to Sophie and Zachary. I can't be a dissapointment twice in a row, on the same day. I need to find a way to calm down. Alcohol. No way, I'm not going to find solace in alcohol. That would be my last option. My frantic gaze was drawn to the grand piano, which stood alone as I was. Music. My escape. My legs made their way to it, forgetting the world I was surrounded by. The orchestra was getting ready to play another piece before my fingers made their way through the keys of the piano. I had no formal musical training. I do, however, know how to mimic by listening to the pieces repeatedly. Glimpse of you. A piece, a song that had caught my attention. So I start playing that. My fingers bounce from C-C-C to C- A-C-C to C... I couldn't hear the chords I was playing because my ears were preoccupied with the melody my mind had memorized. And before I know it, I'm closing my eyes and singing the song.

She'd take the world off
my shoulders
If it was ever hard to
move
She'd turn the rain to a
rainbow
When I was living in the
blue
Why then, if she is so
perfect
Do I still wish that it
was you?
Perfect don't mean that
It's working
So what can I do?
When you are out of my
sight
In my mind........

I opened my eyes and all the weight my heart carried just got lifted up. I didn't feel my anxiety anymore at least not for now.

Polite applause follows making me straddle as I turn around. All eyes were on me, striking with awe. I flush at sight ahead. Embarrassed.

Holy sh*t, what was I thinking? My mother is going to kill me now.

I saw Sophie and Zachary accompanied by Emily and Elizabeth stalking toward me. My hands gripped the stool  I was sitting on as if my life depended on it.

"A Martin sure knows how to make an entrance." Zachary, my cousin and the man of the night murmurs as he kisses me on my cheeks. He looks very striking in his extraordinary tuxedo.

"Bella, you sounded magnificent!" Sophie exclaims as she elopes in an elegant hug, followed by both my nieces.

"Tía!!!!"

"My babies," I whispered, having a genuine smile for the first time in days. I love them to death. And I don't mean it metaphorically.

"My princess is all grown up." Emily was dressed in a dusty rose ball gown which hugged her in all the right places. She's sure gown up to become a split replica of her mother. Eternal.

"Tía! You don't have to call me anymore. I promise not to throw a tantrum like I used to."

"You will always be my princess." I countered her.

"And mwe." Elizabeth pouts at me.

"You as well my love."

"No! Eli can be your prwncess, I Tíos prwncess." Her adorable word pronunciation makes me chuckle.
