"That'll be 2.75," I put my hand out for the person buying coffee to put the change into, "Thank you, have a good day. Next."

For the past week straight, all I can think about is what Shawn said to me. For a couple of nights, I would sit up thinking, why did he get so mad? That must mean he likes me. Even if it was just a little bit. I would be numb in the head to disregard the fact that he was mad about what I had said.

Unfortunately for me, because I am a teenage girl, the thought that Shawn Hunter might like me has overrode the fact that he was an asshole in front of everyone. Did I forget that he called me a whore? No. Although I don't sell myself short of worth anymore, I know my past. So does everyone else.

But bottom line, he spent that night with Angela. The feelings that he may have had for me must have disappeared the moment I told him I regretted the kiss, which I did not, and this was proven when he screamed at me in front of our friends and peers. Not to mention when he thought shoving me into the wall would make me listen to him better.

I look up to see how many more people are in line, and right when I do, Topanga and Angela walk through the doors.

I prepare myself to slap a smile on my face, taking care of the other costumers coffees before I greet the two, "Hi, girls. What can I get ya?"

"Hi, Ophelia," Angela gleams at me. "Just a coffee with sugar and milk, please."

I nod and grab her coffee, "And you, Topanga?"

"Iced caramel coffee, please and thank you, Ms. Bell," Topanga winks at me.

I grab both of their drinks, hand them over and take money from them, giving them a discount that they probably don't even realize I'm giving.

None of my friends know how much coffee really is, fire me.

There's one last person for me to help, but I notice Topanga hanging around the counter after she says bye to Angela. Angela walks out alone and disappears around the corner.

"Yes, Topanga?" I chuckle without looking up at her.

Topanga giggles, "I have some news for you."

"And what would that be?"

The costumer walks away with his muffin and tea, so I turn and face Topanga who's sipping her coffee looking like she's going to burst with excitement.

"She ended it with him," Topanga continues sipping her coffee, "this is delicious by the way."

I thank her and then immediately ask, "Who?"

"They're over," Topanga puts her drink on the counter, "Angela says it's because of you. She knows you should be with him. She said she knew he had feelings for you and couldn't stand in the way of two people."

"Angela said what?" I ask, baffled. "Why did she walk in here smiling? She was nice to me?"

"She's not upset about it. She said it was her choice to do it," Topanga shrugs. "She's been iffy with him for a while now, I'm not totally surprised."

"Angela didn't see what happened the other day. Shawn acted like he hated my guts. She wasn't standing in the way of us - if anything, Shawn's standing in the way," I let out a sarcastic laugh.

Topanga shakes her head, "Shawn was pissed when you said you would regret him, but only because he wants you."

"He's the one that pushed me away when I kissed him. If he wanted me, he would've figured it out earlier," I start making Topanga another drink because this one's already gone.

"He pushed you away because he wanted you guys to have a real relationship! He didn't want to just be a hookup buddy," I hand over the drink to Topanga, her face lighting up. "I love you, Ophelia. You're too good to me."

"Listen," I lower the drink from her mouth and stare into her eyes, "if Shawn and I ever happen, it's going to be rough. The amount we've gone through is insane, and we're not even together. We know I like Shawn, but Shawn needs to figure out his own feelings first. So don't- and I know you, Topanga- don't get your hopes up."

Topanga purses her lips, and then takes a sip.

I don't move away from her, "tell me you heard me, please."

"Yeah, yeah. I heard you. No getting hopes up," Topanga says in a voice that a child would use after getting reprimanded. "Blah blah."

I laugh and go take care of the costumer waiting, "Goodbye, Topanga. See you in class!"

I hear her say bye as I pay more attention to the order I need to make.

An hour or so goes by before I see another friendly face.

Eric Matthews walks in hand-in-hand with a sweet looking girl who has the brightest smile. Eric sees me at the counter and hurries over to me, "Ophelia!"

I grin at the two, putting together that this is the girl Eric has claimed to be his girlfriend.

"I wanted you to meet Jane," Eric pulls her forward more so she's closer to the counter, "Jane, this is my best friend Ophelia. Ophelia, this is my best girlfriend Jane."

Before I say hello, Jane leans over the counter and pulls me into a hug. I hug her back, my nose being filled with the smell of oranges and vanilla.

"It's so nice to meet you," her teeth sparkle as she smiles. "I was so upset I couldn't come to the party the other night, I've been dying to meet the woman Eric talks about so much."

I shoot Eric a look, "Maybe he shouldn't be talking about me so much."

Jane laughs and waves it off, "I wouldn't expect any less."

I laugh and say back, "well, I'm also glad I got to meet you. Eric told me about you and then never told me that I would have to wait so long to meet you!"

Eric chuckles and looks between us, "I didn't want you guys to meet. You're gonna fall in love and then kill off the middle man."

We all share a laugh at Eric's stupid joke. I ask if they want anything to drink, and when they both ask for anything, I make them the same coffee Topanga had just demolished.

"Here you guys go," I hand them over.

"I'll be right back, I'm gonna go pee," Eric dismisses himself.

I move to the counter space that has the coffee beans on it and begin to refill the machines.

"Hey, Ophelia," Jane says from behind me. I turn around and nod my head, signifying for her to say what she wanted to. "I just wanted to let you know that I know how much Eric cares for you, so you must be special. If you ever need anything, you can call me. I want to be another person for you, if you would like me to be."

I feel my eyes start to prick with baby tears, "Same to you, Jane. I appreciate you, really. Here, write down your number for me, I'll give you mine as well."

We exchange number when Eric comes back, "Damn. You got my girlfriends number faster than I got her name."

I let a giggle out and shake my head, "You're in such a silly mood today, Matthews."

Eventually the pair leaves. All I'm left to do is make coffee and think about Shawn and Angela's breakup.
