*4 years later*

The letter in front of me almost brings tears to my eyes.

I run into the living room after reading it for the 3rd time to make sure what I'm reading is real. Shawn's asleep on the couch right now, and normally I would let him rest, but right now is different.

"Shawn!" I squeal and jump on him, his body jolting in shock. He sat up too quickly and ended up throwing us both off of the couch. "Look what came in the mail!"

I shove the paper into his hands and watch his face as his eyes trail over the word.

"You got the job?" Shawn's face lights up.

Nodding my head so fast it may be shaking my brain, Shawn starts laughing excitedly.

I applied for a job a couple of months after graduating college. A real job. It's for a travel magazine. Basically, I would go and take pictures of places that people should vacation at with all expenses paid by the place. It's for destination places to get more exposure.

Shawn pulls me into a bone shattering hug, rocking us back and forth. "I'm going to miss you, but I am so, so proud."

I laugh, now knowing that he stopped reading the letter after the second paragraph.

"Why are you laughing? The apartment is going to feel so empty without you."

"No, it won't," I caress his face. "Because you won't be here, either."

Shawn tilts his head in confusion.

"Read the bottom of the letter, dummy," I nudge the letter back to him.

If Shawn had read the bottom of the letter, he would have read that the accommodations are for me, plus one more.

When I sent some pictures and writing samples to the magazine, they said that they were so good, they were desperate for me to come work with them. They offered me the job then and there. But I expressed the issue that I refused to leave my boyfriend behind, and was hesitant to take the job. The company then told me that they would send a letter negotiating terms of my employment soon. This was that letter.

"Holy shit," Shawn celebrates once again. "Where are we going first?"

"This paper was in the envelope," I stand up and grab the other sheet of paper. "Our first destination is in California for a trial run. A week in California."

On the back of the page is an itinerary for the week. Restaurants, hotels, and other places we will be visiting.

"Look at us," Shawn beams. "Not only have we made it out of the Pink Flamingo, found someone who loves us as equally as we love them, but we're finally getting out."

I grin, thinking about how different my life was before Shawn came into it.

"We're finally getting out."
