A/N: Michael looks so cute in this gif ^.^
May's POV
I looked in Mikey's room but he wasn't there so I texted him to see where he was. No response. Hmmm.
I went downstairs to watch TV but Ashton was in the lounge and I didn't have the energy to deal with him.
I decided to just go for a walk back to my dad's house since Mikey didn't seem to be coming home any time soon. I hadn't really spent that much time at the beach house since I got here, but now I actually had some time alone so I decided to explore. I stopped at the ice cream food truck and ordered a vanilla soft-serve.
As I sat and licked my cone, I watched a couple sharing a sundae. They were looking at each other with so much adoration in their eyes. For a fleeting moment I wished I could feel the love they had for one other, but my experiences have taught me that love doesn't last. There might be a period of time when you love someone and your whole world revolves around being with them, but eventually that feeling goes away and all you're left with is broken promises and painful memories.
That sounds really depressing, but it's the truth. There was a time in my life when I was naive and longed to fall in love, to be swept away by my knight in shining armor and have my very own happily ever after. But that kind of love doesn't exist. You know why? Because people are selfish. All they care about is making themselves happy, and the second you aren't the source of that happiness anymore, they're gone.
I finished my cone and threw it in the bin.

By the time I climbed up the steps of the beach house, both my stomach and my foot were killing me. I hobbled over to the kitchen and fixed myself a quick sandwich. The fridge was full again, so I'm guessing the cleaning lady restocked everything.
I have to find something to do. After looking through several empty rooms, I found a cute little room in the basement. It had a big window looking out to the beach, right under the stairs leading up to the house. Right under the window was a cute little window seat with a couple dusty pillows. On the right was a desk with a metal lamp and on the left was a bookshelf full of all different types of movies. This little study is perfect!
I texted Mikey again and told him to come over soon for a movie marathon and bring Luke and Calum. After tying my hair up in a messy bun and changing into a different shirt (the one I was wearing still had a stain from my iced tea), I started rummaging through the pantry, looking for some snacks. I found one of those giant 50-packs of miscellaneous chips, some popcorn bags, and a tub of cookie mix. Perfect!
I followed the instructions on the box and put the cookies in the oven. I set the timer and sat down on the couch to wait for the boys to arrive.
+++++++++++++++++++++
The doorbell rang just as the smell of freshly baked cookies started wafting in from the kitchen. I opened the door and was greeted by Mikey's green head, followed by Luke, Calum, and- great, apparently Ashton decided to invite himself as well. Amazing. I said a quick hi to the boys and dragged Mikey into the kitchen, leaving the boys to find their own seats.
"What the hell, Mikey!! I never said Ash was invited," I smacked his arm.
"Control your anger woman! I didn't really have a choice, he didn't have any plans for the night... I couldn't just leave him all alone."
"Oh, please! There are probably a million girls that would love to spend the night with him."
"True..." He nodded. I rolled my eyes. "Ok, then I just brought him to annoy you. Ya know, mix things up in case the movies get boring."
"I hate you." I left the room but Mikey ran up ahead of me and jumped into one of the two remaining seats on the couches. Why was he in such a hurry? Then I see why.
The only remaining space is on a tiny love seat next to Ashton. Kill me.

Ashton's POV
When we arrived at May's house she ignored me, as usual. I walked into the living room and saw a big pile of movies. I bet May has the worst taste in movies.
Luke and Calum had already occupied the big couch, leaving a single seat and a smaller couch. I sat down on the smaller couch and waited for Michael and May to return from the kitchen. She had dragged him in there the minute we had arrived to have some super secret conversation. Whatever.
They finally came back and Michael jumped onto the single chair, leaving May with the only seat left- next to me. She glared at Mikey and walked over to the giant pile of movies.
"What movie do you guys wanna watch?" She asked absentmindedly while searching through the stack. "Oh, hey, Pursuit of Happyness! This is my favorite movie of all time we have to watch it I haven't seen it in so long!" She exclaimed in one breath, grabbing the disk tightly.
Michael glanced at me and I could see the evil intent in his eyes. He wouldn't.
"OMG THAT'S ASHTON'S FAVORITE MOVIE TOO!!!" He pretended to fangirl and I inwardly face-palmed.
May stared at me for a few seconds and then smiled. "You have good taste in movies."
I cleared my throat awkwardly. "Um, you too."
Cue the awkward silence. I cleared my throat again and May sprang back into action. "I should go check on the cookies." She limped over to the kitchen and returned minutes later with a plate full of cookies, a bowl of chips, and several bags of popcorn.
"Help yourselves, guys!" She smiled and set all the snacks down on the table.
"Food!" Calum yelled and grabbed three cookies, shoving them into his mouth.
May laughed and I noticed that when she smiled tiny little crinkles formed next to her eyes. I suddenly felt like laughing too, but then I realized there wasn't anything to laugh at.
May started the film and took her seat next to me, though I noticed that she sat as far away from me as possible. Suddenly I found myself wishing she hadn't.
