Chapter XXII: Reason to Breathe
WARNING: Strong Language and angstHarry slowly made his way down to the kitchen around two o'clock in the morning feeling more tired than when he had gone to bed. For several days now he had been plagued with nightmares. It has been two weeks since Snape broke up with him and he was starting to feel the negative effects of their bond and not being with the man every moment. There were moments when he was able to feel relief from the bond, like when he and Snape were in the same classroom, but for the most part, he was in constant pain. He didn't mind so much the pain, he was used to it, but the fevers, chills and vomiting were taking a toll on his body and everyone around him was starting to notice.
"So you and Severus broke up?"
"What the fuck, Char?" Harry whipped around staring at the dark figure in the corner of the kitchen. Harry wasn't sure what to say, he stared back at his brother. A lot of people had been asking him how he was doing lately and he couldn't hold it against them, since the breakup he hadn't been the easiest person to be around. He was more moody and that was saying something.
"Good morning to you too, Harry" As he looked back at the younger boy he knew that 'broke up' was too delicate of a word to use. Their love had capsized and gone up in flames.
Harry didn't even stop himself from rolling his eyes, showing just how annoyed he was. "We haven't see each other for a month and this is what you want to talk about?" Asked Harry. He knew the older was asking because he was more curious and nosy then he was concerned.
Charlie had arrived yesterday coming home from Romania and having gone back there for a couple of months, so he could finish his studies.
"We talked to each other on the phone everyday for a month and this is what you didn't tell me?" Charlie countered while sipping on his chocolate milk drink. "I thought we were brothers." Apart from his brothers taste buds being that of an infant, despite being at the ripe age of nineteen, Charlie acted like a child at times. As he watched his brother suck down his chocolate milk, Harry was glad that he himself lost his sweet tooth when he had reached the ripe age of twelve.
"We are brothers, but just cause I don't tell you something doesn't mean that I don't trust you." Said Harry. It's not like he didn't want Charlie to know. He just reallycouldn't grasp a chance among the excited updates he had been receiving from Charlie who at that time was obviously enjoying his stay back home with the family. He figured he'd probably tell him when he came back home or when they'd have a minute to themselves. It's pointless to spoil his older brother's vacation with his miserable life. "It was a mutual break up," Harry started.
Charlie slightly smirked as he still sips at the sweet drink but a little slower now. It had been anything but mutual and even a week later, he still couldn't believe Severus had actually broken up with him. "Mutal break-up my ass." Charlie scoffed rolling his eyes. "That's not how dad and papa described it to me,"
"What exactly did our parents even tell you?" Harry curiously asks before he jumps to conclusions.
Charlie shrugged. For the second time that morning, he didn't hold back and rolled his eyes from his brother's audacity to cross his arms in front of his chest and be cocky as all shit. "You tell me what happened, then I'll tell you about Eeyolette."
"You little fucker, dads didn't actually tell you shit did they?" Asked Harry. He knew for a fact that their parents hadn't said anything because in the past week no one had come to him to ask what really happened. "You're just juicing me up for details."
