Chapter XII: Family Time
Warning: Strong language

Slamming the door to the dungeons, Severus rubbed a hand over his face. What was wrong with him? In all the years he'd been a Professor at this bloody school he'd never once gotten butterflies. Why did Harry make him so nervous?

Severus Snape walked moodily over to his desk stood still for a moment and sat down, ignoring the squeaks coming from his raven, that sat perched in his office. His hands shook horribly and it was almost enough for him to through the bottle of ink across the room, but cleaning was a hassle and he didn't need any more things on his plate.

After sitting silently for five minutes, he takes in a few more deep breaths before taking out his quill. He dipped it rather furiously into the pot of black ink, writing down notes for what he'd need to prepare for in next weeks lessons.

Stupid Harry, always getting in his way. Always making him feel like the things he wanted were actually possible. He knew full well that the life he wanted wasn't possible and how rude of the Weasel boy to come here and disrupt his life. Of all the people, it had to be a lazy, overbearing, Potter.

'Well, technically Severus, he's not a Potter.'

"That doesn't matter," he heard himself say out loud. He was a grown man for Merlin's sake! About to write, he realised his hand was shaking with frustration. There wasn't much point in trying to do things if he couldn't control his anger.

He leaned back in his chair closing his eyes, the images had flashed before his eyes and he sat up with a jerk. The thought was enough to repulse, but he'd had a moment of weakness. He had actually asked Harry if he wanted him, if he wanted to be with him. Yes, the events happened a week ago, but he was still reeling that the boy had refused him, after he had opened up to him and told him that he felt the same way.

Snape opened his eyes recalling the traumatic events from a week ago. "How could I have been so stupid?" Snape said out loud. He looked down at his hands, which had physically began to shake and cussed before closing them into fists. He felt like a complete and utter fool. He couldn't deny it, the spark that he shared with Harry and the electricity that he felt course through his veins every time he was around the boy, was getting worse. He wanted to feel that energy again, he needed to. And it was getting even harder to stay away from him. Not to mention that he had flat out told the boy that he liked him. He had behaved like a dewy eyed schoolgirl.

"So utterly embarrassing, Severus. You're a professor for crying out loud."

Snape groaned. He's so frustrated he's resulted to talking to himself.

Fortunately for him, there was a knock at the door that distracted him, and Minerva McGonagall stepped inside the office. Just the right thing to make his body go back to normal. The witch walked over to the raven on the perch and gave it a scratch behind his head--- to witch the raven seemed to caw at. "You needn't worry about Harry, Severus, he'll come around." Putting her hands together she approached the man's desk.

Snape rolled his eyes, "Where is the Headmaster these days?" Snape asked changing the subject.

"He's been in London, meeting with the Prime Minister." She said matter-of-factly.

Huffing loudly Snape rolled his eyes again this time in annoyance. "I wasn't ready to do this," he began, "but you told me to put myself out there and I did and he refused me Minnie." Severus wasn't an idiot, and he understood where Minerva was coming from. He'd play coy until he couldn't anymore. No one had to know.

"He'll come around Severus, I want nothing more than for you and Harry to be involved. You're like a son to us, and I know Albus feels the same way." She stated knowingly. "He'd be a fool if he didn't choose you." She said, her voice genuine. She walked over to the man, taking his hand. "Do you love him?"
