After a week, finally, everything had fallen into a routine. The house-officers could not sit inside the only air-conditioned doctor duty room as the PGs would hog it. So the Library was where they would have to sit during the day. Sign out was at 1.45pm, and nobody could go before then. Humayun, Ifreen, and Simran spent their time playing monopoly, ludo, uno, and any other card game they had.
Imtesal would pull out his Macbook Pro out of his bag, making sure to do it only when Mishal would enter the library. Knowing full well this is Civil Hospital, and not even 10 rupees was safe. Inch by inch Imtesal had managed to place his seat next to Mishal's. And they would sit together. Ayesha, Kinza, Imtesal, Mishal, Talha and Gulrin were preparing for the JLEs. Imtesal, however, barely focused on studying and mostly focused on Mishal.
He would constantly ask Mishal about her family and her interests. Mishal seemed disinterested and would just stay mute and work on her laptop. Talha had around two hundred publications but Kinza guessed he was aiming for five hundred at this rate.
Meanwhile Kazi had his eyes on every house-officer that was male. His attempts to grab their attention, or any of their body parts he could discreetly try to pull off as playful behavior was increasingly becoming strange. He had grabbed Gulrin by the shoulder yesterday, and today complimented Talha's ears. Kinza wondered who he would target today.
They had made a great rapport with the patients too. They didn't have to go to the bedside one by one. All the patients would form a line and come to them. Seynish' patients would happily come to him with big grins on their faces. Seynish would say 'Aja chacha, aaj teray liye dekh kia laya hun.' and he would carefully put small baggys in the palm of their hands. All in all, it was a great routine they had come up with.
The remnants of cocaine had almost been wiped clean by the workers off the table, which Kinza noticed as she put her head on the table being careful not to accidentally inhale any as she took a nap.
