Yes, that table had been many times used for the occasional cocaine parties, where the consultants of Psychiatry along with their neighbors from Dermatology would ensue in a night of fun. The psychiatric patients were given the right amount of medication, obviously non-lethal to help them sleep better during the night.
At least, that's what Kinza had heard, and likely it would be true. I mean no one in this god-forsaken place had that much of an imagination to make up such a story anyway. On their way over to the Head of Department's office, they saw a middle-aged lady crouching down against the wall. Her head was covered by a shawl that dragged down to her knees, so only by a closer inspection could they tell that she was urinating on the floor. The guard was standing a couple of feet away from her pleading for her to stop. But she continued.
She shouted at the guard: 'Chal dallaya, teray baap ki zameen nahi mein isspe jitna pishaab karun tujhe kia.' and laughed hysterically. (F*** off you pimp, you don't own the building)As they found the door to the office, they politely knocked on it. They suddenly heard a chair being forcefully pushed aside, and some shushing and whispers.
'Ahem, ahem. Yes you may come in.' said Dr. Haris. Kinza and Ayesha stepped in to see Dr. Haris sitting against his armchair behind a desk, whereas there was a young lady adjusting her hijab and white coat sitting right across him. He cleared his throat and said
'You must be the new House-officers'. He looked them both up and down, his eyes glancing past from the top of their head to their feet. 'This is your co-ordinator, Dr. Rena, she will tell you your tasks' He pointed towards the hijab lady, who was still trying to discreetly adjust her head-scarf. Dr. Rena looked at them, and said in a clipped voice. 'Go to the doctor's duty room, I'll meet you there.' She was clearly unhappy with the intrusion these two had caused by entering the office and disrupting their meeting which did not seem work-related by the looks of it. Her lipstick had been smeared, and Dr. Haris looked too flushed for his usual state too.
They made their way out of the office exchanging looks, and quietly closed the door behind them. They saw a couple of others in white coats walking towards the doctor duty room, and followed them inside.
