Kabanata 9: Visitor's Vacation

Pagdating ko sa hotel, tinext ko kaagad si daddy. He told me to inform him when I arrived pero sabi rin niya'y nabilinan na rin niya ang secretary na pupunta ako ngayon dito para dumalaw. I don't really need an assistance since familiar naman ako sa hotel namin but he insisted kaya ng makapasok na ako sa lobby ay may lumapit agad sa akin na isang hotel crew.

"Kalimèra, kyrìa," the boy greeted me with a smile.

Ngumiti ako, "Kaliméra."

"My name is Edan, Madamme. Your father's secretary told me to accompany you and be of help should you need anything for today," the boy said.

Ngumiti ako at tumango, "Thank you, Edan. I'll just roam around and probably visit my suite. Could you please ask someone to have it opened?"

Edad nodded and excused himself.

This Demetriou Hotel, Athens based is our main hotel branch and this is also the biggest. Tuwing summer at christmas break ay sobrang dami ang nagpupunta at nag-sstay rito and open rin naman ang hotel kahit hindi sa mga guests, I can see a lot of people roaming around.

We have a restaurant here, the La Taverna, of course. We also have here a store that's like duty-free. And I know maraming gustong makita ang loob ng hotel namin dahil maliban sa labas, the interior of our hotel is magnificent. It's baroque with all shades of gold and crytals. My great-great grandfather, Constantine Demetriou really has an exquisite taste when it comes to designing interiors, no wonder our ancestral house here makes me feel like a princess inside a castle whenever I visit. Wala na nga lang nakatira doon kung hindi ang iilang caretakers. Papou doesn't wanna sell it.

May iilang nagbago sa hitsura ng hotel pero hindi naman masyadong noticeable. Well, at least for me. Ang sabi lang ni daddy ay nag-expand ito at nadagdagan ng 10 standard suites. Nadaanan ko ang La Taverna roon at may iilang kumakain na.

Nag-iikot pa ako sa dulo ng aisle kung nasaan ang terrace at kita ang buong view ng malaking backyard garden ng hotel and the ocean. Cliff area kasi ang tinayuan ng hotel na ito.

I felt the fresh breeze of air on my face when I leaned on the baluster. Mataas ang araw at kita ko sa dagat ang ilang sailing boats and yachts. Meron ding nag-sun bathing sa may shore. Oh, I wanna do that! I surely will when Phyllis and Pax arrived. I haven't gone to the beach for months.

Matapos ko roon ay umakyat na ako sa floor ng mga suites namin. It's located at the top of the hotel building. Nang makarating ako roon ay bumungad sa akin ang pinto ng kanya-kanya naming suites. Me and my cousins' initials are at the top of each doors. We all have these in our hotels around the world.

Bumukas ang pinto ng suite ko ng matapat ako roon, isang housekeeper ang lumabas at medyo nagulat pa ng makita ako.

"Kyrìa," she lightly bowed her head.

"Hello, I am here to check on my suite," I said.

Marahan siyang tumango, "Yes, madamme, Edan told our head lady to clean this before you enter."

"Thank you."

May inabot ito sa aking keycard, "Here's the key, madamme."

I shook my head, "No, just bring it downstairs. I won't be needing that." May fingerprint access naman kasi ito kaya okay lang na kahit wala akong key card.

I went inside my suite and it looked exactly the same. Kung nasaan ang mga furniture, naroon pa rin sila, everything looked the same. It's fine with me, anyway. Hindi naman ako madalas mag-stay here, only when my cousins have night outs before when they still visit Greece madalas. Dumiretso ako sa balcony ko at muling nakita ang view ng garden at dagat.
