Ravaged Souls
Kabanata 1: Gaia

"So what's your plan after college, Gaia?"

I looked at Phyllis and shrugged. We've only got two semesters left and I'm graduating. I smiled at that thought. Finally. It feels like I've been studying all my life. Well, I was, technically. It's been 8 years since I moved here in Boston for highschool and for college. I took up business because my family is in that line.

"Masters?" I shrugged laughing a little bit. Parang kanina lang ay nagrereklamo akong ang tagal-tagal ko nang nag-aaral pero heto at naiisip ko parin na magtuloy ng masters.

She rolled her eyes, "Right. Why did I even asked."

Phyllis and I met freshman year of college. Magkatabi lang kami ng condo and she approached me at the elevator. That's when she told me she's taking up business management, too. Phyllis is half filipina like me. But she said she doesn't know her mom, daddy niya ay pinoy and he's based in New York. Phyllis grew up there, too. Magaling siya managalog dahil iyon ang ginagamit ng daddy niya kapag kausap siya. Just like my grandma, gusto ay magaling rin dapat ako managalog hindi lang sa english at greek.

I stood up, "Are you staying here? I need to go." Ani ko.

Her forehead creased, "Where are you going?"

"I'm meeting Kronus."

She rolled her eyes, "Hay nako, lovelife nanaman."

Tumawa lang ako, she said she's staying so I bid goodbye. I'm meeting Kronus today, my long time boyfriend. He's based in Greece like my parents but he comes here every two months to come visit me. Kronus and I started dating back in highschool. Sophomore year ko noon iyon at siya naman ay senior. Katulad ko'y dito rin siya sa Boston nag-aral and now he's back in Greece to manage their business.

I was hailing a cab when my phone rang, I look at it and saw Kronus calling.

"Hello, babe?" I said.

"I'm here in your condo, babe. Sorry I didn't go straight to you," he said, "I'm jetlagged."

I smiled, "It's okay. I'll be there in 10."

I hanged up and called for take out. Sigurado akong hindi na makakapagluto si Kronus kaya nag-order nalang ako, I don't feel like cooking. Nang makarating ako sa building ay excited akong sumakay ng elevator. I couldn't stop myself from smiling because finally, I get to spend time with my boyfriend again.

Pinindot ko ang floor number at bahagyang umatras, the door was about to close when I saw a hand in the middle of it, bumukas muli ang elevator at pumasok ang isang lalaki. Napairap ako. Here we go again.

"Hi, ganda!" Nakangiti niyang bati ng makapasok.

I immediately smelled his familliar scent. Laging mabango ang taong ito, eh. Nilingon ko siya at pinagtaasan ng kilay. Nakangiti pa rin siya sa akin na tila ba naghihintay ng sagot ko. I sighed.

"Hello, Radcliff," I said coldly.

"Oh, nakasimangot ka na? Kanina lang ang laki ng ngiti mo, eh," he teased.

Inirapan ko siya at hindi na pinansin. I don't hate him but sometimes I get so annoyed because he always tease me. Sa tuwing makikita ako'y laging nagbibiro. Para pang hindi nauubusan ng energy.

Radcliff goes to Boston University and he's taking his Master's degree. Ang pagkakaalam ko'y graduating na rin yata. Nakilala ko siya through his cousin, my close friend. Minsan nga'y tinanong ko kung bakit siya nakikisama sa amin at kung wala ba siyang mga kaibigan dito na ka-edaran niya. Ang sabi niya'y meron naman pero mas close raw kasi siya kay Paxton, his cousin. Madalas siyang sumama kapag naghahang-out kami. We've known him for three years. He is 4 years older than me.
