They finally arrived at the hospital and as Danny was rushed into surgery, Erin went over to the waiting room and sat patiently for the rest of her family to arrive. She watched the chaos of the St. Victor's Hospital unfold before her eyes. Officers were being rushed from bed to bed, some with only a few sprains, some with concussions and broken bones, and a few were major, but non-life threatening. But Danny? He had a broken leg, sprained wrist, a concussion, a cut to the head that was in desperate need of stitches, badly bruised ribs, bruised and sore back, and countless scratches and bruises all over his body. To make things worse, he still hadn't woken up. Just then, Frank and Jamie came through the doors with Henry, Nicky, and Linda following close behind.
"Mom!" Nicky called out and they made a path for the teen to reach her mother. Nicky ran right into her mother's arms, but the reunion was cut short. Everyone wanted news on the Reagan that wasn't standing with them.
"How's Danny?" Frank asked trying to sound as calm as possible.
"He's in surgery," she said and it left everyone holding their breaths.
"Surgery why would he need surgery?!" Linda said frantically.
"He has a broken leg and he needs stitches," she explained and Frank led Linda to the nearest chair. There was no telling what she was feeling. This was her lover in the operating room and she had no idea what was going on with him.
"How bad is it?" Henry asked.
"His right leg is broken, he managed to only sprain his left wrist, he has a cut on his head that's being stitched up, countless scratches and he'll probably be sore for at least a week. He also managed a concussion," she listed, and Frank just stood there and took it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. The waiting room was going to be their home tonight, and they weren't going anywhere until they saw for their own eyes that Danny was going to be okay. As the family settled in, Jamie pulled his father aside. There was something he was hiding, that he needed the police commissioner to know.
"Dad," Jamie started, "when I was helping Danny out of the precinct, he woke up briefly and gave me this. He had it in his hand when the place blew. Apparently, he received an anonymous call from someone saying that he would know who they were soon. It came from a burner phone." Frank stood there looking at the file his son had just handed him. Someone had threatened his son and now he was having his leg mended by surgeons. This was exactly what it looked like, and it looked like someone deliberately tried to kill Danny.
"This was intentional," Frank said out loud what they were both thinking. Henry has noticed the fear on his son's face.
"What is it Francis?" he asked and everyone looked up at Frank to hear his answer.
"This attack wasn't about the NYPD," he said pulling out his phone. He called Baker and ordered her to pick up Linda's son from her parents' place. Everyone looked at him with mixes of confusion and worry on their faces.
"Dad, what's going on?" Erin asked.
"Someone put a hit out on this family," he said and it left everyone breathless.

A hour passed and as Linda tried to keep her son's smiling and Nicky entertained, the rest of the Reagans tried to figure out who would want to go after them. It was hard to put names out there considering the man already noted that they didn't know who he was. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't put the puzzle together. Just then, one of the nurses walked over to the group with a smile that warmed their hearts and left them hopeful.
"How is he," Linda asked as they all stood at the sight of her.
"The surgery was a success," she started, "we patched him up and repaired the damage. He will be on crutches for a while but he is expected to make a full recovery."
"Is he awake?" Frank asked.
"No he's not," she explained, "and when he will wake up is the only thing we are uncertain of. He has a pretty bad concussion, and is pretty sedated. But he will be fine, I promise you that." They watched as Danny's saviour turned around and led the Reagan clan to Danny's room. Just then, Frank's cell phone began to ring.
"Reagan," he answered.
"Huh, like father like son," a man answered, "tell me commissioner. Did your son have a blast?"
"What do you want?" Frank asked sternly.
"What do I want?" the mysterious man repeated, "I want you to feel what I feel. You took away the only thing I loved, and now I'm returning the favour. And I will take out as many Reagans to do it."
"I will find you," Frank threatened.
"Say what you want commissioner," the man responded, "you, your sons, your daughter, your grandchildren, and even your father. You're all gonna feel my pain." And that was all that was said before the line went dead.
