Aspen: TW
The next morning, I'm woken by quiet voices coming from the living room. I groan, still painfully tired as I wake myself properly. I roll out of bed and end up on the floor with my covers. While doing this, I manage to hit my head on the bed side table, creating a large bang. I moan in agony, feeling a little light headed.
"ASPEN!" I hear a familiar voice shout from downstairs. "ARE YOU OKAY?"
I flinch, forgetting where i am for a second. Once I realise, I mumble out a reply before realising he probably can't hear me. Deciding I don't care, I curl up on the floor and close my eyes. As I lay there, I hear multiple footsteps running up the stairs and nearing my room. I cringe, from the loudness. What are they, elephants?
The door swings open and I see six figures standing in the doorway with Josh in the front. "Kid, what are you doing on the floor?" He sighs in relief, he probably thought I broke something.
"I'm much comfier down here." I express, repeating his words from the police station.
He chuckles and I let out a smile. "Well, would you like to come greet our guests?"
My glance darts to the tall man standing behind him, standing around 6'2. He wears a suit much like Josh's yesterday but somehow more expensive looking. He is perfectly put together and radiates power and authority. He wears an amused expression, not quite a smile though which makes me frown lightly. His eyes are the green colour of mine and I realise just how similar we look. Everything down to our jawline matches the other. He has got to be one of my brothers.
I stare at him in shock and slight panic for about a minute before somebody behind him coughs. "Do you think she's okay." A loud voice tries to whisper.
"She can hear you dipshit." One of the older ones smack the back of his head.
"Aspen," Josh crouches in front of me, "you wanna get off the floor?"
"Not really, no." I shake my head as I hear the others chuckle.
"You want stay there forever?" He asks.
"Forever." I agree, lifting the covers above my head and only slightly peaking.
"We can see you peeking." A bored tone states.
"Shut up, Axel." Another snaps.
"Watch your tone, Lorenzo." Axel bites back, stepping closer to him challenging.
"Boys, give up now." The other man jumps in with a stern look.
"Well tell this arsehole, Elijah." Lorenzo whines, looking like a kick puppy.
"Lorenzo, language!" The last boy jokes with a mischievous glint in his eye. He seems to be identical to Axel except from his brown eyes, Axel's are the same as mine and the oldest's.
"Boys, go downstairs. Elijah, make sure they don't ruin Mr Jackson's living room." He commands with authority, looking slightly annoyed at his brothers behaviour. Axel is about to protest but his twin pulls him back and down the stairs, the rest following suit. "I apologise for the boys, they are emotional and unaware how to handle it." He apologised to Josh and I.
"That's okay." I murmur slightly, drawing his attention to where I'm still curled up. His lips twitch up and I swear Josh blushed slightly.
"Get dressed and grab your stuff, Kid. Meet us downstairs."
The men leave and I slowly drag myself from the cold floor, wincing with every movement. I take two painkillers from my stash, hoping that they will put me on for now and get dressed. I move to the bathroom and clean my teeth before collecting all my stuff and making the bed.
I cling to the railing as I make my way down the stairs, terrified of falling. Or being pushed.
"Oh, look who finally decided to show up." A sarcastic voice remarks and I feel like slapping the shit out of him, I'm in no mood to put up with the disrespect.
"Car, Axel." The oldest replies, not even looking at him.
With a huff, he stands up and storms out the door, slamming it close. I flinch and rush down the stairs, almost losing my footing. I sit in the empty space next to Josh, placing my rucksack onto the floor.
"Axel will be punished appropriately, I'm deeply sorry for his behaviour. We warned him about his attitude." Elijah speaks up, looking frustrated and slightly embarrassed of his brothers behaviour.
"It's a lot to have a new member of the family join you so suddenly, we understand. Right, kid?" Josh nudges my shoulder with a pointed look.
"Well he doesn't have to be such a dick about it, but okay." I shrug, leaning into the sofa. I catch the youngest two sniggering, sending me large grins and I send them one back. I'm going to like those two. The oldest two just seem a little surprised by my language and that's even funnier.
Josh clears his throat, "Why don't you introduce yourself Aspen, get to know your brothers a little before you leave."
I take a deep breath. "I'm Aspen, I'm fifteen. Recently found out about my dead sperm donor, making me realise I've been an orphan for two years. My step-father just died and my only friend is Josh." I look at their baffled faces and smirk.
"Aspen." Josh sighs, pinching the tips of his fingers on the top of his nose.
"Yes, Josh?" I ask innocently. The younger ones start laughing again and I join them, wincing slightly at the pain on my stomach.
"Are you okay?" Elijah asks worriedly, furring his eyebrows.
"Fine." I say a little to quickly.
"Elijah is a doctor, Aspen. If you are having any trouble, you can go to him." The oldest states.
"How about your names?" I change the subject, picking at the skin around my destroyed nail.
"I'm Alexander, 25, and your new guardian." He leans forward onto his elbows, almost as if he was analysing me.
"Elijah and I'm 22, sweetheart." He says kindly.
"I'm Asher, 19 and the guy in the car is my twin, Axel. Don't mind him, he's just a moody bitch. I'm going to be your favourite." Asher shrugs and I snigger at his language as Elijah taps the side of his head.
"I'm Lorenzo and I'm 17. And it's me that is going to be your favourite, trust me." He smirks.
I shrug, "We will see." No we won't. Don't get close, Aspen. You know the consequences. I swallow the large lump in my throat.
"Are you ready to get going, Aspen?" Alexander questions, standing up and gesturing his brothers to do the same.
"Um, yeah okay." I agree nervously, lifting myself on shaky legs and collecting my bag off of the floor.
Josh stands beside me. "My flight is in a week or so, I'll come and check on you. If you need me before that, here's my number." He hands me a slip of paper.
"I-I don't have a phone," I say, declining the paper.
"You don't?" Asher asks and I shake my head.
"I'll take it," Alexander offers, "you can use my phone until we can get you one of your own."
"Thank you."
"No problem, bambina."
I say my goodbyes to Josh, thanking him for everything and he waves me off, telling me to have fun. I then enter the car with Elijah, Asher and Lorenzo, relaxing as my head hits the cold window.
