you moved your hips to the movement of the ocean waves with kiri. she stumbled and you laughed goldenly making waves ripple through the ocean waves. you turned slightly to see jake and neytiri smiling at the two of you. kiri and yourself have been best friends sense you were small na'vi children. you turned your attention back to kiri and she was laying face down in the water floating. you sat next to her and admired the view, the ilu's swimming freely, the waves crashing against the shore, and the trees lining the docks. your ears twitched as you heard foot steps behind you.

"what is she some kinda' freak?" ao'nung asked laughing with his friends. you quickly turned your head and rose to your feet. before you could speak kiri stood up.

"huh, what'd you say?" you winced at the hurt and confusion in her voice.

"are you some kind of freak?" he spoke clearly, treating her as if she had some sort of mental problem.

"uh, no." she breathed out, sounding deflated. she tried to walk away from the situation and i followed her, walking away.

"are you sure?" he asked following her as she walked, "look at these hands." ao'nung tried to grab her hand, but out of reflex she pulled away. you hissed at him swatting his hand away.

"do not touch her!" you raised your voice, looking at all of the boys.

"ah, the cuties got some fire in her after all." ao'nung laughter looking at all her friends. you were one of the more beautiful women, sparking yellow eyes, pretty hair. "you should not be hanging out with the freak." he claimed grabbing your tail. you spun getting your tail out of his grasp, you hissed. suddenly lo'ak appeared.

"aye fish lips, hands off!" he yelled, pushing him away from you.

"another five fingered freak!" ao'nung and his friends laughed. they captured kiri, lo'ak and you in the circle grabbing at your tails, especially lo'aks. neteyam came and pushed ao'nung away.

"you heard them." neteyam spoke. "stop touching them. now" he ordered poking his chest. one of the boys hissed, but ao'nung stuck his hand out signaling for him to stop. ao'nung stepped forward slightly. "from now on i want you to respect my sister," he paused, "and y/n." ao'nung nodded slowly shifting his gaze to you and kiri. "come on." neteyam spoke allowing you and kiri to walk ahead of him before following the two of you, with lo'ak behind you.

"five fingered freaks," that was all you could make out before you turned to see lo'ak turning back.

"yeah my hands are werid, freak i know." he spoke, the boys laughed. "but lemme' show you this cool trick." he joked. "i ball it up real tight just like this... yeah you see?" he ends his sentence with punching ao'nung in the face, once, then twice, and a third time knocking him to the ground. lo'ak lands on top of him, and ao'nung wrestled to be on lo'ak, but lo'ak gets back on top of him quickly. punching him and grunting as he does. ao'nung's friends grab lo'ak tail pulling him up, then one of the boys slaps lo'ak with his tail. you wince and see neteyam scratching his head as if he as thinking about something.

"fuck it." neteyam spoke running out to the fight pushing one of the boys and punching them as the boy falls to the floor neteyam jumps on him and punches him again. it isn't long until ao'nung friends grab neteyam's tail and drag him off.

"ow, my tail!" and, "ow my ear!" can be heard from the fight. you and kiri laugh but when ao'nungs parents begin to rush down the dock you quickly stop laughing and run to break the fight up.

"what was the one thing i told you not to do?" jake yelled at the three of you.

"get into trouble." you all say in sync.

"yes, especially with the clan leaders son!" jake scolds once more.

"but sir, they were bullying kiri calling her a freak. and they were touching y/n." lo'ak speaks lowly. jake looks at you quickly.

"ugh, please just go apologize for hitting him. i don't care how you do it just go." jake sighs.

"what?" lo'ak questions, "i have nothing to apologize for." he rolls his eyes before jake starts to speak.

"just go." jake speaks looking him in the eye. "dismissed" jake says. lo'ak leaves, grabbing your hand pulling you with him. he looks at you and smiles while you walk past each hut.

"thank you, lo'ak." you smiled at him looking at his busted lip.

"anything for you, y/n." he speaks looking down flustered at his own words.
