The Darkness was something Rose had begun to seek comfort in. No matter the nightmare she would face, the darkness would always be there when she closed her eyes. The darkness would never be the one to betray her only the demons existing where they didn't belong. Rose opened her eyes, expecting to see the handsome blue eyes she had woken up to so many nights before. Safe in his camp, with his arms wrapped around her.
Rose gasped seeing dark brown eyes peering down at her.
"Good you are awake." he threw a flask at her.
She didn't say anything. Her grogginess slowly left her trying to remember everything that happened. Her head pounded so hard she wondered if she had her first alcoholic beverage.
"Drink." The dark eyes and jet black hair commanded. Tyler, a stranger she just met.
She threw her neck back, feeling the warm water attack the back of her throat. Everything slowly started coming back to her. The aliens. The Blackness. Tyler running down the hill, carrying her in his arms. The warm sense her body felt at his touch.
"It will be about another day's journey," Tyler announced packing up his bag and getting rid of the makeshift fire he created. Idiot. He could have summoned unwelcome company and Rose's unconscious state would have never stood a chance.
"Why did you stay?" Rose asked. Tyler stood above her. Rose sat on the ground refusing to move until she got some answers.
"Did you expect me to leave you alone in the woods." He said in seductive way. Acting like he was almost offended Rose would dare question his character.
"Your people left, why didn't you?"
Tyler was a complete stranger to her and she didn't trust him one bit. There was a dangerous sense about him, that was screaming for Rose to attack or run as fast as she could. The look of his eyes eerily reminded her of her own. When they made eye contact it was like he could understand her own darkness, and she hated it.
"They left both of us." He snapped. Rose couldn't tell if that was the truth or not, but she knew he could have watched the final alien kill her, yet he came running to make sure she was alright. His leader that they all praise would have been thrilled if fate ended that way. Instead he risked everything. For her.
"C'mon Princess let's get you home." He held out his hand helping her up. Pain returned to her side. She tried to hide the pain from her face, but the grin on Tyler's face proved he wasn't fooled.
"I hate that name." Rose grunted attempting to grab her own bag, but the pain too much for her to handle.
"I know." Tyler smile was like the devil. He lifted her bag over his shoulder.
She lifted up her shirt, the fabric that was still wrapped around her waist was covered in blood on the right side. She lost too much blood. Anxious thoughts invaded her mind. Thinking about the possibilities the wound could be infected. Since she passed out she wasn't in control making sure it was bandage correctly and she had no medicine on her to prevent infection. She prayed Tyler was as good of a doctor as he was a shot.
Tyler grabbed her arm wrapping it around his shoulder without bothering to ask.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" She asked between grunts of pain. She hated showing anyone she was weak, but the wound was too severe to hide between her typical control expressions.
"It's either this or I can carry you the rest of the way." He smiled knowing her answer. Rose hated how this stranger acted like he knew her so well. She still wasn't convinced about the reason he was here.
