Chapter 7. Illusion

Matilda saw her life flash before her eyes. Gripping the rope tight and clutching her eyes shut. She felt herself free fall.
That was until she stopped. She gulped and looked up to see someone holding the rope. She cannot see who it was, all she saw was a green hoodie.
Suddenly the rope started to get pulled up and she sighed. She looked at the ground, she was far too high up, and she would break a bone if she jumped, so she didn't.

When she finally looked up, she stood by the open window and glared at the man who was untying the sheets and curtains. "You could have died." He said.
Matilda rolled her eyes, "It's better than being held captive against my will." She said. He let out a scoff, "You are not held captive-" "The locked door says otherwise." She said.
Finally, the man turned around. Matilda pursed her lips, a smiley mask was what greeted her. She furrowed her eyebrows, "Who-" "You don't know me?" he asked her.
Matilda rolled her eyes, "I wouldn't ask who if I did." She said. He chuckled and shook his head, "I didn't expect for you to forget me that easily First Lady." He said.
Her jaw dropped when she remembered. The same way it was said, "Dream?"

Matilda sat on the bed and he sighed, "Look first lady-" "Stop calling me that." She cut him off.
He hummed and nodded, "Then what do you want me to call you?" he asked. She clenched her jaw, "Well clearly I'm not the first lady anymore seeing you've kidnapped me."
Dream groaned, "Can you stop saying I took you-" "You didn't?" He shook his head, "I didn't."
She scoffed, "Then what the fuck am I doing here? Clearly, this isn't my home, my home that was rampaged by you and your people-" Dream stomped his feet loudly.
The sound echoed around making her stop. She gulped as she walked to her, "Okay maybe I attacked your nation-" This caused her to snicker.
"But I didn't take you willingly." He said. She raised an eyebrow at her. "Then why am I here?" she asked.
Dream stared at her, despite the mask, she shivered at his stare, "Because you were attacked." "Attacked?"
He snickered, "Do you really believe that I'm the only enemy that your beloved fiancé has? News flash Darling, I'm not." He said.
This made Matilda confused, "What?" And at that moment Dream realized, "You don't know." He said. "Know what?"
This made the man walk up to the bed and kneel down to her, "Your fiancé has been garnering quite the name and not in the good way that you think you have known."
"I don't believe you." She firmly said. Dream sighed and stood up, "Then don't." he said before moving to walk out of the room.
"If you say I'm not kidnapped." She muttered making him stop. He turned his head slightly to acknowledge her, "Can I leave?" she asked.
The man sighed and lowered her head, "You're free to do whatever you want, but I know deep down that you know Wilbur is hiding something from you. And unlike him, I'm willing to tell you the truth." He said as he grabbed the doorknob.
"Wait." She said as she stood up. Dream turned to look at him, "What?" "Why am I here?" she asked again.
Dream gulped and shrugged, "When we were on our way back from your nation, I saw you getting attacked while you were running. They knocked you unconscious and I stepped in.
"You were on the floor, head bleeding. I couldn't leave you there." He admitted. "Why didn't you bring me home?" she asked.
He scoffed, "Do you think they'll believe anything I'll say?" "Then why should I believe you?" she asked.
From the way his shoulders sagged and his head lowered a bit, Matilda realized that she had hurt his feelings. Feelings? Does the tyrant have feelings?
"Because I would never lie to you."
