"YOU KNOW, THE VERSE ON 40s N 9s WAS ABOUT YOU," DAVID told nellie as they laid together in her bed. david knew that after they had sex, nellie liked to cuddle. the two would get somewhat dressed and cuddled. david had picked up the habit the first time nellie and him started their situation. the two had worked it out in their personal 'ground rules' after the arrangement seemed to be a continuous thing.
nellie burst into a fit of laughter. it was the loud ugly kind that only her family and close friends heard and david always loved to hear it. "i know you tell every girl you've been with."
david hadn't told another girl that nor did he slept any girl other than nellie since they started this thing. david looked down at her, since nellie laid on his chest, and shook his head. "no, i haven't, but believe what you want, pen."
penelope sat up from her place on his chest to look at him. the girl gave him a look as she sat back on her calves and looked at him who leaned in the headboard. david smiled at the girl, while she tried to fight the smile brewing on her face. "you're lying, bro —you're smiling. stop playing with me."
"just because i'm smilin' don't mean i'm lying, penny. i'm smilin' cause you're beautiful. can't smile at my lightskin shawty?" david began to smile harder at his little joke.
"you're so annoying." the girl groaned despite the smile on her face. she covered her face as david began to point a finger at her as he laughed.
penelope was used to how flirtatious david was. there was no escaping it, though it didn't help her growing feelings for him. david started to recede in his fit of laughter, which lasted similarly as long as nellie's own, as nellie moved her hands away from her face.
nellie looked at the time and it was almost two in the morning. she knew that david would be okay to walk home by himself but she didn't want him to leave and she would never forgive herself for letting him walk home at night. david caught onto what nellie was looking at and waited for the girl's next move.
"you wanna jus stay over?"
david smiled at the girl once again, before he put his face into a mug. "only if you stop calling me bro. cause i'm not ya bro."
nellie sighed, "yeah, yeah."
"you gon be mine one day, mami." david said, pulling penelope back into him to lie down. the girl rolled her eyes at him before she sighed.
in her head, penelope thought of what it would be like to be with him but she knew that couldn't happen. so, instead, she took another breath out and played it off. "yeah, yeah. turn on the tv, david."
