⚠️ Short Chapter
'.... no, I haven't seen her for some time.' I said as Eshaanvi asked about Bhavna Tai.
Hope she had a nice time with Anmay and his family.
'...uh, Athiya ji, did she get her flight? She was in quite a rush!' I asked recalling how hastily Ms. Shetty left!
'Oh... yes, probably she did. I called her and the call didn't connect. She must be in the flight now.' Eshaanvi said. 'Rahul would know better.'
I nodded. Talking with Rahul about Athiya ji would be a horribly awkward affair.
I closed my heavy eyelids as the tiresome slumber ran over them amidst the beautiful gust of wind blowing in the late evening.
'Esh, the MLA is here. Please, tell Dad to take extra care.' Rahul suddenly appeared, evidently looking restless.
But, MLA! Seriously!
'Oh... ! Don't worry! Dad knows him well!' Eshaanvi said, standing up. 'Still, let me have a look.' Eshaanvi stood up from beside me and walked off the stage.
Rahul, on the other hand, took the seat beside me that was just vacated by his sister.
'So.., everything okay in here?' He asked examining things around without looking at me in particular.
'Nothing bad in particular.' I said, nonchalantly.
I didn't look at him to see his reaction. My eyes rather fell on the beautifully adorned lights before my eyes.
Wow! That setting must be so expensive! Never have I ever I thought something like that would be there for my reception.... No.. my mind cut me off.
It's not your reception, Kavya. It's the cricketing icon KL Rahul's grand reception! You have accidentally forged a place in it. It's not yours. It will never be.
I looked at the sky above. Stars ... they twinkling. I smiling. Beautiful... yet not expensive. And they are for all. I smiled looking at the sky ignoring the buzzing music around.
'Attige!' Preethi and other cousins of Rahul suddenly brought me back to earth with their buzz.
'Attige! It's dance time! We need the newly weds on the floor.' A boy whose name was Rohan or something said holding my hand.
'We aren't hearing a no, Anna.' I heard some pursuing Rahul too.
'Actually, I... I can't da....' I tried to excuse myself off. But...
'Attige, we don't want to hear any excuse. Please, please, please...' Preethi said, holding my other hand and almost pulling me.
Oh no!
'Preethi, She's right. She can't dance and I'm feeling tired too.' Rahul added.
Thank God! At least, he's supporting me in something.
'Anna, please. Jeenesh Uncle's daughter Lekha is here too. I'm planning on asking her for a dance. But, I cannot do it unless you two make it to the stage and distract the elders.' Rohan said.
'What the... don't you have your Semester exams in a month?' Rahul said making me go ...
'Seriously!' I couldn't hold it back. What has the Semester exams got to do with a dance?
Others started laughing.
'Attige, Anna's just like that. He's too serious and boring with his family.' Another girl cousin said, chuckling.
I could see Rahul giving me a look of annoyance. But, as he looked I felt his eyes suddenly widen as if in disbelief.
'Attige, please. Come to the stage...' Rohan almost pleaded now.
