Willow was a borrower who had lived in Hailey's house for quite a while now, after she had moved from a not-so-safe human house. The previous house owner was loud and clumsy, and practically lived in the kitchen, so it was impossible to get any food. Willow watched Hailey's routine for a while and figured that she liked to go into the kitchen a lot, but was very confusing since she just opened the fridge door and closed it every time she went. Was she waiting for something? Willow shrugged off her house owner's strange habits and made an attempt to do her duties while Hailey was outside. She was just halfway across the counter when she heard the dreaded noise of the keys turning. Panicking, Willow went to hide behind a jar and waited for Hailey to pass. Following behind her were three sassy-looking girls. They appeared to be her friends, but they kept shooting her dirty looks every once and again. They all sat down on a sofa in the kitchen while they talked about everything. "Do you guys wanna watch that movie?" Hailey suggested to them.
"Shut up Hailey! Anyway gals do you wanna watch that new mooviiee? I've heard they've got a hottie in there! Hailey wouldn't understand since she isn't a hottie anyway." giggled one.
"OMG YES! And oh my gosshhh can you stop breathing so loud Hailey?! No one likes you." said another.
Willow was starting to become infuriated by this 'friend group' of Hailey's. They shouldn't have treated her like that if she was supposed to be her friend! Willow felt sorrowful as she glanced at Hailey, who was trying to hold back tears.
"I'm going to the bathroom..."
"No one cares Hailey!"
Willow nearly fell over at the sudden movements, but clung on to the jar.
"SOoo did you hear that rumor about Hailey?"
"Oh you mean the one about her picking her nose?"
"Yeah, it's fake but I started it!!"
"OMG GIRLL! You are a genius that rat deserved it after talking to my brotherrr."
"Yeah, she wouldn't have a chance with him, she's too ugly."
That was it. Willow couldn't stand this anymore. She pulled a spear from her pocket and shot it directly at one of the girls. It hit them right in the shoulder, which caused her to let out a small shriek. It was honestly piercing towards Willow, but she felt a source of satisfaction, that the bully had gotten what they deserved. "OMG GIRL are you alriighttt? Let's leave this rat's house and get you to safetyyy!" she heard one say, and they ran out the door. Willow stood there with her arms on her hips, proud of what she had done, when suddenly her trail of thought was cut off by large, shaking thumps. She freaked out and frantically tried to find somewhere to hide again, heading for the jar, but soon the shaking booms caused her to trip over. "Ohnononononnononno...!" was all she could think of. She felt someone's gaze fall onto her, she knew she had been caught. She turned over so she could be on her back to see what was happening, but she accidentally interlocked eyes with Hailey. "Wha..." Hailey said, perplexed by what she saw. Willow shuffled back a little, shivering with fear. Hailey stepped forward to inspect Willow, causing her to jolt. "D-d-don't st-step any c-closer! I'm a-armed..." Willow nervously stuttered, sweat trickling down her back as she took out a thumbtack. "Calm down...uh, I didn't mean to make you um...scared, sorry. Didn't expect to see a borrower in my house." Hailey rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. Willow was still intimidated by the large figure in front of her, so she crawled back a bit, until she hit a wall, squeaked, and ran forward. She didn't expect to be really close to her body! Trying to steady her breaths, Willow slowly walked backwards, and when she noticed Hailey's arm come up, she ran as fast as she could. "Hey..! Calm down, come back here...you're gonna hurt yourself!" Hailey began, but Willow had already disappeared through a hole. "Aw...I hope she doesn't get hurt, poor thing." Hailey murmured. This remark made Willow's heart ache out of gloom, but also confusion. She felt sorry for this girl, but why would she, a giant, worry about someone like Willow?. After a while she crawled into Hailey's bedroom and sat in the hole staring at her. Soon enough, Hailey felt someone was watching her, and turned around. To her surprise, it was the borrower again. She gave the small girl a warm smile. Upon realizing she had been noticed, Willow's eyes widened anxiously and she tried to go back, but seeing Hailey's saddened face made her stay. "I'm sorry we met on bad terms. I'm Hailey by the way, what's your name?" She asked softly. Mustering up all of her courage, Willow tried to speak, but nothing came out of her mouth. Fear had taken over it completely. "I- uu..." she couldn't believe that she just basically interacted with the human! She gathered her shaky breaths and tried to piece the words together. "M-my...name's...Wi-Will..ow...Willow." was all she managed to get out. She expected anger, or anything like that to come after her, so she embraced herself in her arms and awaited the worst, anxiety ridden. "That's a lovely name! I understand you've been taking my crumbs and stuff, so do you want a proper meal?" She exclaimed. Willow jumped back at noticing the gesture in Hailey's hand. Did she want her to...to...step in there?! Willow shuddered in horror as she stood back from the hand. "You don't have to if you don't want to.." Hailey pointed out while giving a sad smile. Willow was terrified, but she didn't like seeing the human like this, so she cautiously stepped out of the hole onto Hailey's hand, trembling. "Oh gosh oh gosh I'm going to die here!" was all that raced across her mind. She knew only one thing - she wasn't controlling her body. In under no circumstance would she make the choice to do this! Willow cursed at her body in her mind, trying to get it to stop, but to no avail. What she didn't expect was for Hailey to be shaking as well. She swallowed the lump in her throat and peered up at Hailey who was already looking at her with awe. "W-why-" but before she could finish her question, Hailey flinched harshly and caused Willow to fall. "I'm so sorry! Please forgive me, I wasn't paying attention.." Hailey apologized. She then stood up carefully, now at her full height which made Willow's stomach lurch as she let out a yelp when the ground around her fell down. She clutched onto one of Hailey's fingers as she walked slowly. She chuckled a bit at this and settled Willow down on the counter she was on a couple minutes ago. "What do you wanna eat?" She asked. Willow didn't say anything, except she covered her knees and sat down. She couldn't believe she just let a human pick her up!
Hailey sighed and sat down. How was she going to get this borrower to trust her?
