Reggie needed a job, and fast. His parents were kicking him out, and he had no where to go. No friends, or anything like that, he walked through the streets to find an opportunity. There were no shops hiring, but something caught his eye. A bright, fun and ecstatic atmosphere, a daycare. This was perfect, the pay looked good and they seemed quite desperate for new employees. He stepped inside, and nothing could describe how surprised he was to find out all the employees and children there were tiny even though this was a place for giants! "Please, don't hurt me or these kids..." came a voice. He looked down and a lady was burying her head in her arms. Reggie kneeled down beside her. "Hey, it's ok, I'm just here for the job. That's all." he said reassuringly. The woman nodded and begged the man to be careful with the children while she was out scouting. He filled in the forms and papers for everything. Reggie promised to not do anything and waved her a goodbye as she went through a gap in the door. Soon enough, all the kids came pouring in onto him, since they figured he was quite safe. They climbed onto his ears and tugged at his hair excitedly, and some even tried swinging off his finger tips! He chuckled and went at an angle to get all the kids off him carefully, then opened a small oven containing cooked food. He placed it down in front of him and watched the kids happily eat the food. Smiling, Reggie took out his sheet of paper and began reading to himself about the information. "10 children in total. Let's see here...one...two..three, four five six seven...eight...nine...huh? There's only nine." he said, with a hint of worry in his voice. His pupils frantically darted around to try and find the 10th child, but he couldn't. That was when he heard faint sobbing. Spinning around, he noticed someone sitting under a table. Crouching down low, he tried stroking the kid's back for reassurance, but it caused him to cry even more. "Hey buddy, it's okay...why are you crying?" Reggie asked softly. "T-the *sniff* the other kids are mean!" the kid shouted, and broke down again. "Hey, shhh...it's okay. Don't let them get to you, I'm gonna have a talk with them. Say, what's your name, little guy?" Reggie smiled.
"M-Mateo."
"Mateo? That's a wonderful name. Now, come with me."
Reggie reached out his hand and gently picked Mateo up. "Alright everyone, I heard you've been mean to Mateo over here!" he began, catching everyone's attention. "And anyone who is EVER mean to him again, will have to go through me first."
He knew they were just kids, but he just wanted to scare them so they weren't mean to each other. Mateo beamed at Reggie, who hugged him tight. No one was ever going to break their bond.
