Skye's POV
I missed Lando. Everything reminded me of him.
I didn't know why I asked for a break, I wanted to think about how I could save Lando but I couldn't do this alone.
The doorbell rang and Kylie quickly walked to the door. Was she expecting someone? "Skye, someone is here for you. I am going to the store real quick" I could hear Kylie yell.
I quickly walked to the door, who could be here for me? No one knew where I was.
Lando was standing there, he was holding papers in his hand. We just looked at each other. He licked the corners of his lips. "Fuck, just come here" he said as he opened his arms.
I sighed smiling as I walked to him and put my head against his chest. He wrapped his arms around me.
His heart was beating fast. I quickly looked up at him. "I am sorry" It's all I could say. I had no explanation. I couldn't tell him.
He showed me the papers, I quickly scanned through it. "Was this the reason you wanted a break?" It was the Red Bull contract. I nodded. "Maya has a picture of it, she's gonna publish it Lando" he just shrugged his shoulders as if it wasn't a big deal. I was confused. This could damage his relationship with Mclaren and Zak even before the season ended.
He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the couch. He turned his body to mine and put the papers down in front of me. "I don't care if she does. She clearly didn't really look at it" he pointed at the contract. I grabbed it and looked at it. "She found it in my old suitcase. It's a contract from last year when Red Bull was interested in me and I was interested in joining them because we had a shitty car" he started explaining. "I signed it, but I never gave it to Christian because I decided to stay at Mclaren" I sighed relieved. He rejected a lot of money just to stay at Mclaren. They would actually love him for that.
"And you should really communicate more, you little shit" he chuckled as he pulled me in his arms. He was right, we could've avoided this if I just told him. "I was trying to save you, I'm sorry" I softly said. "I know, but we are stronger together" he said as he put my hair behind my ear.
He sighed as if he had something else to tell me, something I wouldn't like. "Spit it out" I said as he looked down. He pulled the papers in his hand, just to distract him. "Maya kissed me again and I was so drunk and so messed up. I didn't push her away" he looked devastated and guilty. I couldn't blame him when I was the one who pushed him away again.
I didn't answer, I didn't want to talk about it.
I leaned closer to him and pressed my lips against his. I hoped he would understand what I was trying to say.
"Let's go home" he said as he grabbed my hand and pulled me with him. I nodded.
Not much later we were sitting in the car. I texted Kylie to explain things to her and obviously to thank her. She was such a great friend.
Lando put his hand on my thigh as he was driving us home. He wasn't saying much, he didn't need to.
I knew he was thinking about how he would handle things with Maya and the contract. He was biting his lip as he was driving.
I put my hand on his. "My parents invited us to dinner tomorrow night. Do you wanna go with me?" He quickly looked at me and nodded. "Sure baby" it probably wasn't his favorite thing to do, it certainly wasn't my favorite thing.
My dad still thought F1 was stupid and not a real job at all.
I wish I didn't waste my vacation because of Maya but I missed our vacation with the drivers. There was still a few weeks of summer break left but I wasn't sure if Lando planned another vacation.
I certainly hoped he did.
