Why was Daphne outside again?

Well, the female had a lot to think about at the moment. But she didn't want to say anything about it to anyone.  She stared at the sky once more as she sat down out front, except it was currently nighttime.  People would most likely worry for her since it was unlike her to walk off like that.  Again, Daphne was not far away from everyone else. So, she could just walk back to everyone whenever she was needed.

"You need to stop disappearing so frequently."  A familiar voice made Daphne turn around once more. It was Pony, who had a frown on his face. Daphne sighed softly.  "Shouldn't you be inside with the others?"  Daphne asked, a frown slowly also coming on her face.  "Yeah, but all of us saw you walk out.  So, I had to run after you so I can make sure you're okay."  Pony replied, crossing his arms.

"You didn't really have to do that, you know?  I can fend for myself just fine.  You don't have to overly care so much about me."  The human had replied, sighing softly, looking down at her feet.  "Well, I'm going to do that now, since you don't know how to take care of yourself properly.  We're all worried for you, you know?  You've put your life on the line more than enough times already.  That's why I care."

Daphne smiled slightly. She was glad to have a friend like Pony to care for her like that.  She was touched that he cared.  However, Daphne was likely going to be a bit stubborn though.  "Do you want to walk and talk? We can walk around the hallways." Pony suggested.  "Yeah, that's what I was thinking."

Pony nodded, and the two of them began walking around the hallways. Back then, the two of them talked to each other while walking in the halls often.  However, Daphne seemed a bit quieter than usual.  Pony had noticed this and would always let her talk with him.

"Hey Pony? I have a question."

"What is it?"

"Can you tell me how everyone found the Safe Place? In other words, how did everyone get here?"  Pony stared at her for a few seconds. He then looked down at the ground.  "You know I was a part of the Silver Paw a long time ago, right? But I'm not sure if you would want to hear my story."

Daphne then nodded slowly, staring at Pony with a slightly confused look.  Why would she judge him by that?  She already knew that he was once a part of that group a long time ago.  "I'm not here to judge you or anything, Pony. You can trust me."  Pony nodded slowly, then taking a deep breath.

"Before the infection began, I was studying to become an optometrist, which I think you already knew."  Daphne nodded quickly, staying quiet, letting Pony continue with his story.  "When the infection broke out, I went to look for my parents, hoping that they would be alive. Unfortunately, I saw them... infected.  I had no choice but to run."  Daphne felt her heart ache at that. She had a frown coming on her face.  "And that's when I found the Silver Paw. When I left the group one day, I didn't know where to even go afterwards. Then, I managed to find the Safe Place. I... managed to find Zizzy and her sisters were actually the first ones to be there."

Daphne nodded slowly, processing all what Pony had said. Now she wondered who else had joined after Pony.  "I see... who else joined after you? You know, in the Safe Place?"

"I believe Mimi joined next. And then Giraffy."  Daphne could tell that Pony was a little hesitant when mentioning Zizzy at first. That made Daphne worry a little.  "And then... you and Georgie came afterwards. And I think that was all of us. Well, besides the Silver Paw, of course."

"Oh... I see. Do you know how everyone else got here?"  Pony thought for a moment, then nodded slowly.  "I do. But I'm not sure if I want to talk about..."  Pony had trailed off his sentence, and Daphne raised an eyebrow in confusion once more. But she almost immediately knew who Pony was talking about.

Zizzy.

Zizzy was very close with Pony as well as Daphne. So, when Zizzy was infected, Pony felt like he could break down, when he would speak a few words about her. On the other hand, Daphne would try to comfort others about it, but would barely speak about it.  She would sometimes cry alone in her room too, but she still hid it to prevent from worry anyone.  Despite that, she was suffering deep down too.

Pony didn't speak about Zizzy that much after that.  He was getting better at holding back his emotions when mentioning her.  However, Daphne always noticed that he was still hurt.

"It's alright, Pony. You don't have to. We can talk about the others."  As Daphne said that, Pony gave her a soft smile and nodded quickly.  "Thank you for respecting that, Daphne. I think I know some of the story of how Mimi and Giraffy got here."  That made Daphne nod once more. She smiled, letting Pony know that she was here and willing to listen.

"I think Giraffy told me that he was studying in biology. That's why you always saw him outside the Safe Place, working on gardening most of the time. I don't exactly remember much of how he got here, since he didn't really bring it up. I guess he didn't really want to talk about it, and I can respect that." Pony stated, shrugging.

"How about Mimi? Do you know how she got here?"

"I don't remember how much about what she did before the infection. But when the infection did come around, she did have some friends with her at the time. But they all separated later, and Mimi was on her own. I found her in the city, exhausted. So, I let her stay at the Safe Place afterwards."

Daphne nodded, thinking of what to say for a moment.  "I'm glad you let Mimi stay with you at the Safe Place. Who knows what could've happened to her." The female then stated, a smile coming on her face.  "I'm glad too. I'm willing to help a friend out in any way."

Silence came between the two for a few moments before Pony spoke up once more.  "Hey... how did you and Georgie get here anyway? I almost forgot to ask you."  Daphne then frowned slightly at that question. She wasn't sure if it was a good time to tell him. She remembered all the memories that came back to her before she met Pony and the others in the middle of the infection.

"Um... I'm not sure if I want to talk about that. But Georgie, I think I can tell you."  Pony frowned at her answer but nodded anyways.  "It's okay if you don't want to tell me about your story. But for Georgie, you were an officer looking for him, right?"

"I was. Georgie told me that his whole family went missing and had to stay in the mall for his survival. That's when Zizzy and I found him and took him here."  Pony sighed softly. He felt his heart ache at the fact Georgie had lost his whole family to the infection.  "I can't believe Georgie's whole family was infected. I'm glad he's alive and well with us. And I'm glad you found him."

Daphne chuckled and nodded in agreement.  "Me too. When I first saw him at the mall, I was so worried for him. But after Zizzy willingly offered him to stay with us, I was relieved.  I see Georgie as a little brother."  Before Pony could say anything else, a voice was heard in the halls.

"Pony! Daphne! I think it's about time the both of you get some sleep! You two don't want to be out here in the hall forever, do you?"  It was the voice of Willow. The wolf didn't seem to be that far from where Daphne and Pony were standing.  "Alright, we will, Willow. I'll see you in the morning, Pony." Daphne said, smiling a little.

"Same to you. Goodnight Daphne."

"Goodnight, Pony."
