"What the? Where am I? Is this a dream?"
Daphne looked around to process where she currently was. After a few seconds of looking around, she was even more confused. "Hello? Is anyone out here?" She called out, walking around for a few seconds. She didn't even know where she even was. Did she recognize the place? Daphne then noticed a figure a few feet away from her. As the female walked closer to them, she stops in her tracks.
A zebra wearing a purple dress.
"Zizzy? Zizzy, is that you? How is this possible?" Daphne began, taking a step closer to her. She couldn't believe it. The figure turned around, seeing the human. Her eyes widened, walking closer to her. "Daphne? Is that really you? I can't believe it... I knew it was you." The zebra asked, staring at the female's golden colored eyes.
"Am I dreaming? Is it really you, Zizzy?" Daphne asked quietly. "Yeah, it's me." The zebra said, chuckling slightly. "What? How? How are you here? I thought you were..." Daphne began, at a loss for words. But Zizzy spoke up.
"Infected? Well, that's true. I am infected in the real world. But here, is a dream. A part of me can still talk to others." Daphne nodded slowly. That sort of made sense. But why was she suddenly here? "Wait, but why am I here?" Daphne asked, looking around the room. "Well, this is the place where me and you first found Georgie, right? Everything's coming back to you, isn't it?" Zizzy questioned. "It is, but... it doesn't explain why I'm here."
"I'll explain later, I have something to tell you. But right now, I want to ask you something."
"What is it?" Daphne asked, scratching her head.
"How are my sisters doing?"
Daphne hesitated on answering that question. She knew how they reacted when their older sister was infected. And she knew that they didn't react too well to it. "Well... they're trying to take care of themselves without you around. They're trying to hardest to move on, but it's tough for them." Daphne replied, frowning slightly.
She remembered when Pony had told everyone what had happened to Zizzy, he was tearing up. Daphne was just as sad as much as Pony. She remembered the sisters in tears when they were told the news as well. Daphne shed tears as much as everyone else did. However, ever since that day, she held in her sadness, trying to show her bravery in front of others. She didn't want others to see her cry after that.
"They're tough girls, I'm sure they'll be alright. They're both very brave." Zizzy replied, chuckling once more. Daphne chuckled and nodded in agreement. She had been keeping an eye on everyone else more closely ever since Zizzy was gone.
"Daphne... how's Pony doing?"
That made Daphne hesitate even longer at that question. How was she supposed to answer that? "He's also been trying to move on as well. I sometimes walk by his room, seeing him cry himself to sleep. I've been trying my best to always be there for him as much as possible. We all miss you, Zizzy." A soft smile comes on Zizzy's face, as she looks over at the female. "I miss you all too. I know you all are strong; you all can make it." Zizzy stated, making Daphne frown once more.
"Zizzy... if we're in a dream, why didn't you go to your sisters? Or Pony?" Daphne asked, confused at that thought. Now that Daphne thought about it, why did Zizzy go to Daphne in a dream instead of her sisters, or Pony? Why her out of all people?
"Daphne... if I were to go to Pony or my sisters in a dream like this, then they knew how they would feel when they see me. I know that they'll be happy to see me. But they also know that I can't come back to them unless a cure is made." Daphne nodded once more. She knew how emotional they could easily get. But what about the officer herself?
"That makes sense... but why me?" She asked.
"You're the only person I know who can keep their emotions in easily. I know it sounds weird, but you're always calm, trying to stay under pressure, no matter what situation there is. You're the type to protect others, no matter what the situation. You're the one who takes things well than anyone else. That's why I trust you here in this dream."
Zizzy wasn't wrong about that statement. Daphne was always one to keep her emotions in. She always stayed calm, trying to get herself and others out of any situation as quick as possible. She was also the type to take things well in front of others. However, that didn't mean that Daphne wasn't feeling any type of emotions when something happens. Suddenly, Daphne clenched her right fist, as she felt her lip quivering. But she tries her best to hold everything in.
"Zizzy... do you seriously think that I don't feel sad right now? Seeing you right in front of me made me want to cry on the spot, but you were lucky that I held it in." Daphne stated, shaking her head, trying to not let tears slip from her eyes. However, before Zizzy could speak, Daphne continued speaking. However, her voice started cracking, and her voice started raising up bit by bit.
"Do you have any idea how sad I felt? When I saw you got taken away by Willow, and Pony and I had to stand there helplessly, as we couldn't do anything...! If only I had done something, you... you wouldn't be in this mess!"
Daphne closed her eyes, a tear finally slipping from her eyes. And then more tears. However, she wipes the tears away with her sleeve. Suddenly, she felt her body gently pulled close to the zebra. Zizzy's arms were wrapped around the female, trying to comfort her. Daphne hugged back, immediately accepting the hug.
"Daphne... please don't cry now. Save your tears until you cure me in the end." Zizzy said to her softly. She patted Daphne's back before pulling away from the hug. "I'm sorry... it's just... this is taking a toll on me too. I try my hardest to go on for you, but everything just comes back to me."
Zizzy was one of the closest friends Daphne made besides Pony ever since she was taken into the Safe Place. When Zizzy was gone, Daphne had been trying her hardest to keep herself focused. However, Zizzy was mostly on her mind, making her distracted from everything else. "I know... but I know you can do it, Daphne. Please... stay strong for me, okay?" Daphne nodded slowly. She was not going to let Zizzy down.
"Daphne... I need to tell you something. And I need you to listen carefully because I'm only going to tell you this once."
"What is it?"
"Ever since I was infected, I kept an eye on everyone else. I looked back at the city, and... I saw two people. Two people who looked like they're trying to find their way around the place." That made Daphne even more confused. How was that supposed to help? "Do you know who they are?" The female asked. "I don't. I'm sorry, Daphne. But I can tell they're good people." Daphne sighed softly. That wasn't very much to tell. But Daphne made sure to keep that in mind.
"Well, that's sort of reassuring. I'll trust you on that statement." Daphne replied. The two of them became silent before Zizzy spoke up. A serious expression came on her face. "It looks like it's about to be morning in the real world. I think it's about time you wake up." Zizzy stated. "Zizzy..." Daphne began, wanting to say more. But a bright light came into view, making Daphne quickly cover her eyes.
In an instant, Daphne had woken up. A bit of sweat came down her face, as she looked around. She was back in her room, and the sun was rising. She held her head, remembering what she had dreamed about last night. She looked down at her lap, biting her lip, trying not to let her emotions take over. Her head slowly moved towards the window. She placed a hand on the glass window, and frowned, feeling herself tear up.
She lost two friends of hers. Why did she have to lose Zizzy?
