"Let go of her." Jill looked up to the familiar voice.
"Gav..." Jill heaved a sigh of relief when she recognised the figure.
"Who are you? Why are you butting into others' business, jerk?" The drunk man tightened his grip on Jill, making her squirm in pain.
"She said let go. Did you not hear her?" Gavin scowled, his anger rising.
"And if I don't?" The drunk man pushed Gavin with his other hand.
"You touched me first. This is self-defence." Gavin gripped the man's hand and squeezed it so hard, he let go of Jill immediately. Gavin took the chance to position himself between the man and Jill.
"Take this!" The man's other hand threw a punch at Gavin's jaw but he avoided it skillfully. The man stumbled and tripped, landing on his face.
"Don't drink if you're going to use it as an excuse to harass people." Gavin was pissed but he felt Jill's hand on his arm, making him calm down.
"Let's just go, Gav." Jill tugged at Gavin's arm, knowing how protective he got of her.
"Are you hurt anywhere? Let me see..." Gavin fussed over Jill the second they turned the corner. His eyebrows furrowed with concern.
"I'm fine, Gav...I wonder what happened to the fierce Gav I saw earlier?" Jill chuckled and teased Gavin.
"Not funny, Jill. God, your wrist is red...Does it hurt?" Gav gently rested Jill's wrist on his palm, as if it was a precious gem.
"A little but it'll be fine soon." Jill pouted.
"We have ice packs in the fridge, let's ice it when we get back." Gav helped Jill hold her tote bag, even though her shoulder was perfectly fine.
"I'm not immobile, Gav...it's just a little swollen..." Jill protested since Gav forbade her to move from her position on the couch.
"Here, squish it if it hurts..." Gav handed Jill the Squishmallow they'd bought at Costco. Jill had dragged a reluctant Gav there but he ended up digging through the cartons of toys to find the one that Jill really wanted.
"Ah!" Jill let out a tiny yelp when the cold ice pack came into contact with her skin.
"Bear with it or it'll hurt worse tomorrow." Gavin lifted the ice pack for a while so Jill could get used to it.
"Not gonna lie but seeing angry Gav after a while was kinda cool." Jill poked Gavin's cheek. She knew he hated it when people touched him. Although Jill was an exception.
"What were you doing there anyways? Where were your friends?" Gavin wondered.
"They wanted to stay for a little more so I decided to leave first..." Jill was at the bar for one of her classmate's birthday.
"Call me next time, I'll pick you up." Gavin sighed softly.
"I didn't want to bother you..." Jill explained.
"That's the last thing you'll ever be, Jillian." Gavin blew gently on Jill's wrist as a finishing touch.
"Anytime?" Jill joked.
"25/8." Gavin nodded.
"That doesn't even exist." Jill rolled her eyes.
~
"Uhhhh...Jill?" Gavin stood frozen at the doorway.
"Say hi to Timber!" Jill chuckled as she introduced the little puppy standing in front of Gavin.
