the sound of the final bell echoed throughout the hallways and classrooms. chairs scrapped back, books shut closed and belongings were grabbed as the classes of today ended.

absentmindedly, you watched as people streamed between the rows of desks, yet all that could play through your mind was the conversation you had overhead earlier on the roof.

throughout the last lesson, you had been texting geto in hopes to find a plausible explanation for the photos that were mentioned. but it was to no avail. truth was, you didn't know enough about sato to even begin speculating.

you stood up and gave geto a slow nod as you made your way to ichika sato. you had told him that you wanted to speak with her.

she was currently in a conversation near the back entrance of the room. a conversation which she seemed unhappy to interrupt for the likes of you.

"i need to speak with you," you said bluntly. you watched as her eyes leisurely surveyed you, from your head down your torso and to your shoes.

a scoff was heard from her as she reluctantly turned her body to face you as well, "and why would i want to speak with you. someone who can't even keep their legs closed."

you took in a deep breath. it was all you could to keep from slapping her cheek.

"we need to speak sato. alone."

a brief moment of silence passed between the two of you before she turned to her friends and instructed, "wait outside. this won't take long."

geto, who had been watching the scene unfold, felt some sort of unease course through him.

was it truly wise to leave you alone in here with not only someone who you both suspected was stalking satoru. but someone who had verbally and physically hurt you. the bullying you had suffered at her hands— even the thought of it made geto tense and flex his hand. all for being friends with him and satoru. it also made him sick to think there was a time where he thought being in sato's company was better than falling for you.

sato had now moved to sit on a desk at the front of the room, arms crossed and waiting for the few remaining people to leave. though she was a distance away, her eyes bore into you.

geto approached you and tilted his head down to reach your height as you simultaneously looked up. delicate black strands fell from behind his shoulder.

"stay safe, okay?" he whispered. his fingertips gently and discreetly brushed yours. he would've done more but of course, sato was keeping a watchful eye over you, "i'll wait for you by your locker."

"bye," sato cooed to him, waving. geto only flipped her off, without sparing her a glance. but before he left, geto took one final look at you and disappeared from view.
