Sayuri's Pov:
The next morning, my alarm did not go off. Apparently, I had forgotten to set my alarm up. And to think worrying about your boss so much could end up like this. I woke and looked at my alarm. It was 8 am, which is when I was supposed to meet with Yugi. "Holy crap," I yelled. "I'm late!"
I got up from my bed, rushed into the bathroom and did my morning routine. After that, I changed into my green and white shirt, with a green ribbon on the back of my shirt, and red leggings. Since I have no time to eat my breakfast, I decided to grab a bagel from the kitchen, and eat it on my way to work. I don't know why Meme couldn't wake me up, I thought. She should have waken me up, or maybe I'm just a heavy sleeper.
Either way, I'm gonna get myself in trouble. First time being late on my new job as an assistant, and now I'm going to get fired by a famous duelist. Way to go, Sayuri, I thought, beating myself up for this.
As I arrived at Yugi's building to his office, I was drenched in sweat and was panting real hardly. I can see Yugi's expression on his face. He was hesitant for a while and looked a little bit shock. However his face seems calm. "I'm sorry I'm late, sir," I said, panting. "I thought I had my alarm on, and my roommate couldn't wake me up, so I had to rush to work to get here, as soon as possible."
Yugi's face remained the same. Not one word from him ever since I came here all exhausted. "I'm really sorry, sir," I continued, to break the silence that was holding for a bit. "I'm pretty sure you want to fire me right now, since I promised that I would come at the exact time,"
I looked down innocently, feeling ashamed and upset that I brought him. For some reason though, I saw a little smirk across Yugi's face. What is up with him, I thought.
Yugi walked up to me and searched my face, while crossing his arms. His was getting close to mine, but it wasn't too close to touch. "Sayuri," he finally replied. "You don't have to apologize."
I looked up at his face, and give him a questionable look. Yugi laughed a bit and continued, "You really don't have to. Everybody has those days, and I know that you're an honest person. I forgive you, Sayuri."
"You really think so, sir," I asked.
"I'm sure," Yugi said, and nodded in confirm. "So I know that you rushed to work, I'm pretty sure you're hungry. Am I right?"
"Um..." I blushed a little and I wasn't sure what to say next. Then, I answered, "Well I did ate a bagel."
Yugi shook her head and smirks again. "I don't think it's enough for you. Why don't I take you for breakfast?"
"Are you sure, sir? I mean having a stale bagel is fine."
"No, no. That's not enough. Since you're pretty tired from running and you did have your morning run, I think you're pretty tired and famished."
I was blushing like crazy as Yugi took my arm, and led me out of his office with him. Why is he treating me like a child, I thought, as I feel like I'm in misery.
And to think that your boss would treat you like a child, and pretty much make you blush like crazy. So anyway, he took me to a fancy restaurant, which was below his floor. Once again, I couldn't believe that he was living in a luxury. Yugi led me to a table, that was near a nice painting. As I was about to take my seat, Yugi pulled a seat that I was taking and said, "Please, allow me."
I smiled and said, "Why, thank you."
I happily took the seat, and pulled my chair over. Then, Yugi happily seated his own chair. I felt a little unsettled to eat with very own boss. He is pretty good looking though, can't argue with that.
Yami's POV:
I saw Sayuri getting a little uneasy and shy. I smiled warmly at her and try to talk to her, by talking about ourselves. "So Sayuri," I said, getting her attention. "How long have you been a big fan of me?"
Sayuri smiled a little and said, "Since when I was six or seven - years old."
I smiled and continued our conversation. So far, I learned that she has a deck of fairies and some beasts. Moreover, she goes to college and lives with her childhood best friend. Finally, she wants to be a social worker. Amazing how this girl is.
As we were about to go further on our conversation, our waiter arrived with our food. We both ordered a fancy omelet with parsley leaves. When the waiter left, Sayuri looked at her plate. She had that curiosity look in her face, as if she have never seen this before. "Um... is that supposed to be an omlet," she asked. "It looks like gooey cheese with grass."
I laughed and shook my head. "I thought of that for myself when I first tried them," I said. "To clarify that, it's an omelet."
Sayuri laughed too and covers her face with one hand. "Well that's some omelet that I've ever seen."
"You can say that again. I have to say, you're really funny, Sayuri."
We both calmed ourselves from our laughter, since we were giving a lot of commotion in the restaurant. By then, we ate our food and paid it. I suggested that I should pay the bill, but Sayuri wants to do it. So we decided to pay half and half. At least we were satisfied with ourselves and had a good time.
At last, we finally made it to my floor, and entered my home/workplace. Sayuri slumps on the couch and sighed in relief. "That was the best breakfast that I ever had, sir," she said.
"Well I'm glad you like it," I said, as I was putting my coat on the coat rack. "And please, call me Yugi. I said this once before. I don't have to remind you again. I'm ok with you calling by my first name."
I sat right next to Sayuri, and she moved away a little bit. I guess she's still worried that she's hanging out with me. I placed her hand and said, "It's ok. You don't have to be afraid. I enjoy spending time with you."
Sayuri's eyebrow arched and said, "You sure."
I nodded and said, "I'm sure."
Sayuri gave a shy smile and blushes a little. I saw her soft lips, and who knew she has that beautiful smile. After a moment of silence, something just hit Sayuri in a flash. "Oh yeah, wasn't I suppose to fill out my application?"
I blinked a several times. Guess I've been caught up in the moment. "You're right," giving her a sly smile. "I'll give you your paperwork. After you're done with that, you can sort out some paperwork that I have. It's already a mess."
I got up from my seat and left the room. As I left, I stopped and hid behind the wall to see Sayuri waiting patiently, like an innocent child. A smile grew on my face as I stared at her. I chuckled a bit and headed back to my office. Without being said, Sayuri did everything that I told her to do. She finished her application and handed it to me, and started filing some paperwork that I have. Everything went real smoothly throughout the day. Finally, it was sunset and Sayuri had to leave. I opened the door and smiled at her. "I'll see you tomorrow Yugi, she said, as she's about to head out. "And thank you for the treat. I really enjoyed it."
My smile grew wider and nodded my head. "Well I'm glad you did," I said. "See you tomorrow morning, Sayuri. And don't be afraid if you're running late, again. Just don't abuse it too much, though."
We laughed a bit and said our farewells. As she left, I closed the door and sighed in relief. My head was against the door, and I just can't wait to see her everyday. Sayuri just took my breath away.
