Sayuri's POV:
Everything went smoothly again, for the next couple of months. My feelings for Yugi started to develop more, ever since I kissed him on the cheek. I wasn't sure what was I thinking, but I couldn't help my tendency to fall head over heels, for him. Yugi was so sweet to me, and still made me go to luncheons with him. Not only that, Yugi would still give me some raise once in a while, let me work at his office for the time being, and gave me some free time when there's not much work, to do. However, Meme was having some suspicions with Yugi, and was being a bit overprotective of me. She thought maybe Yugi is trying to take advantage of me, or something like that. Oh well, I told Meme my experience with Jaden.
Meme was freaking out how I met Jaden, and literally fainted on the couch. "Why do you have to make me so jealous, pal," she teased. "I mean, seriously?! Do I have to keep up with you, or what?"
I was laughing hysterically, as she was kidding around with me. Meme does perk me up when I have one of those bad days. I do enjoy one of our talks, and Meme would turn things around and make it even better. Sunshine or rain, Meme tries to be the entertainment of the year. "So any update on your new boyfriend," she kid.
I blushed a bit, and sipped into my cold iced tea. "Do you really have to rub it in, Meme?"
"Oh c'mon. It's written all over your face. You told me everything what he did, for you. Sayuri, he is trying to hook you up."
I blushed again, but much deeper. Yugi, trying to hook me up? Now that's what every girl wants, in their fantasy. Pretty much, I'm one of them. I stutter a bit and said, "I uh... that can't be. I mean I'm his assistant. His intern!"
"That's what you think," Meme said, as she got up to get another refill of her drink. "Sayuri, babe. Yugi is trying to make you as his catch. And for some reason, he can sense the deep feeling inside your heart."
"You really think so?"
"I know so. You gotta be careful with who you're dealing with."
Meme does have a bit of a point, and I feel like it's too much for him to do, for me. It felt like he was treating me as if I were his queen, while he's my king. I shouldn't take advantage for giving me the royal treatment, and I should be aware of things. After all, the reason why I worked for him in the first place was that I can help both Meme and I, for the rent. Also, I should be able to pay my books, my student loan, and the debt that my parents owe me. In the meantime, I have to continue to work with Yugi, until I find a career that is right for me. I can't even think of anything at the moment. All I was dreaming about was being with Yugi all the time, and having the opportunity to work with him. It is a privilege to serve him, along the way. It was actually fun, exciting, and comfortable to work with Yugi. There wasn't much bad happening, so far.
On the next day though, things were feeling a bit too hyped up. Let's just say it was a bit of a slip up, and I felt that I should regret it. I working at Yugi's desk, until I heard a knock at the door. I was gonna get the door, but Yugi grabbed it opened it. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was Mai Valentine, Yugi's old friend. I do believe that she wanted to battle Yugi before. Mai was only close to Joey Wheeler, Yugi's closest friend. They are a cute couple, after all. I think I remember that Yugi told me that Mai was coming to visit, just to get reacquainted and have a match together. Shocked though, but at least it was just to mingle with their friendship. Or so did I thought.
Mai stepped inside and hugged Yugi first. "Yugi, it's so good to see you, again," she said, happily.
"It's good to see you too, Mai," Yugi said, while hugging her. "How are things with you and Joey?"
Mai pulled a way a bit and looks down. "Things didn't go quite as well, as we hope. It's just that Joey and I are falling apart, I would say that."
Yugi widened his eyes a bit, and gives a consoling look. "I'm sorry to hear that, Mai," he said. "I know that things didn't go well, but I'm sure things will get better soon."
Mai smiled greatly and hugged him, with eagerness. "Thank you, Yugi."
"You're welcome," Yugi said, as he smiled politely.
I was a bit jealous here, since no one didn't acknowledge me. I mean I'm literally right here, in front of them. And her eagerness on her face, I feel like she wants attention from another good looking guy. Guess this hug fest will continue onward, I thought, sarcastically.
When Yugi pulled away a bit, he turned towards me and remembered his manners. "Oh right," Yugi said. "I completely forgot to mention about my new mentor, who's really a close friend of mine."
He steps aside, to show Mai the person who is working for him. "Mai, this is Sayuri. My mentor," Yugi told Mai, then turn towards me. "Sayuri, this is my friend Mai, whom that I was telling you about."
I extended my hand towards her politely. Though, Mai arched her eyebrows a bit in odd way, but shook my hand to be polite. '"It's nice to meet you, Mai," I said, after I shook her hand.
"It's nice to see you too, Sayuri," Mai said.
Yugi smiled as we greeted each other. However, I feel like Mai and I have a distaste in each other. I can sense that negativity from her, and something's telling me that she might think of me as odd. I have no other Intel about her, but all I can do is rub that off. "So now that you two have acquainted, let's say you and I can battle while Sayuri watches," Yugi said, talking to Mai. Then, Yugi turns to see me. "What do you say, Sayuri."
"I think it's a great idea," I said, feeling delighted.
"I can go for a duel," Mai said, feeling that she doesn't care. Then, her tone changes a bit in excitement. "After that, we can all go for brunch."
Oh great, I thought as my mood had died out. I figured she would say something like that. Yugi smiles from the idea that just made and said, "Excellent idea. We can all get acquainted a bit more."
Mai smiled cheerfully while I rolled my eyes secretly. Good thing that they didn't see me. There was something that Mai was trying to hide, and something's telling me a storm was about to erupt.
Yami's POV:
We finally arrived at a stadium, that's below ground floor. I had it reserved before Mai would come to visit me. It's actually the first apartment to ever install a stadium like that. I had it installed for people to play duel monsters. Even I would play here at occasions like this. I wouldn't mind if people would watch me battle, because battling other people would give me joy, in my heart. I'm entertaining my fans, and having the need to battle just takes out my stress and my problems.
As Mai and I take our positions and taking out our decks, Sayuri sits at the front row, so she can see us battle. I saw her and I winked at her. In an instant, Sayuri blushes red, and I chuckled softly. I turn to see Mai, looking at her. She seems a bit tensed, after Sayuri blushed. Looks like there's a sense of jealousy. "Mai, are you ready to go," I asked, trying to distract her.
Mai snaps out and shakes her head. "Yes, I'm ready."
"Good," I grinned. "Then... it's time to duel!"
Ok... So I'm gonna make this a part one of my story, to this chapter. The next chapter will be Chapter 10, to the second part of my story. I couldn't write so much in one chapter, since I really don't want use up all of my ideas. And my apologies for taking so long. I was really interested in writing my other fanfic, but not to worry. I'm gonna try to be flexible, as I can. And hey, I have Thanksgiving break, to write more stories for all of my fans. Tune in for more, guys! <3
