On a dark, cold day the only sounds that could be heard were the howling of the winds throughout the wooden-based house followed by the sounds of glee from a 1-year-old toddler.
"APPA! APPA! LOOK KWAN!!", a young Jae screamed in delight as he pulled on her father's hand in glee while pointing towards her mother who lay with a newborn baby in her arms.
This baby was like no other. It neither cried nor made a fuss. The handmaiden had to slap the child to ensure it was indeed alive but even then the baby simply whined and settle on its own after a few minutes.
Jong-gil, who was astonished by this child's behavior, stared in wonder at the beautiful baby girl lying in his wife's arms.
"Appa, Isn't she pretty?!", Jae exclaimed while jumping and tugging her father's hand.
"Yes, yes she is.", Jong-gil responded in a daze as his soft gaze of adoration never left the child's form.
"Do you want to hold her?", Ryeon asked as Jong-gil's eyes traveled from Kwan to his wife as he hesistantly nod taking a step forward.
"Please..", He muttered before kneeling down, gently taking Kwan into his arms.
The moment he got her, Kwan reached out and placed her tiny right hand on his left cheek.
Jong-gil was taken aback by the gentle nature of the touch, half expecting her to hit him accidentally.
(cough, cough like Jae had done cough cough)
"Momma! She's my sister!" Jae exclaimed, waddling over to her mom, causing her to laugh.
"Yes, you are her big sister. So you should protect her.", Ryeon confirmed with a gentle smile.
"MMhh, I am big so I will protect her.", Jae declared puffing out her chest in determination causing both parents to chuckle.
"I will protect you all.", Jong-gil stated looking over at his wife with a smile before looking at Jae who ran to hug his left leg, then he looked at Kwan who had her right hand wrapped around my index finger.
