Here is an extra credit writing assignment I did for my English class... Hope you guys like it =)
What If?
Everyone in the world has asked themselves this one simple question, two small little words: what if?
Not all ask the same but they are usually around the lines of these questions. What if I studied for my ACT? What if I hadn't said that horrible thing about my best friend behind her back? What if I had chose to ride in the car with the drunk jock? What if mother and father keep on fighting? What if he/she isn't what he or she says they are? What if there is no one I can trust? What if there is no one out there who truly loves me?
You can ask yourself over and over what could have happened but things are never as you think the will be.
What if a young girl who finally builds up the courage to tell the boy she likes how she really feels? What if he tells her he feels the same way? But what if he is actually playing her while he goes for another? What if she finds out and her trust and heart is shattered?
Or what if a little boy was being abused at home? What if he acted out at school in order to get attention and to channel his feelings? What if he put down another to make himself feel better before he gets beat once again?
What if the game winning shot was trusted to you? What if the pressure got to you? What if you miss the shot and the championship is lost because of you. What if the entire school blames you?
What if you found a fifty dollar bill on the ground and you choose to keep it? What if you spent it on clothes or a video game while the single woman who lost it can't find the money to feed her children?
What if you lie to your parents and sneak out of the house? What if the party you go to gets busted? What if you never earn your parents' trust again?
The world is full of "what ifs" and you never know for sure how anything will work how you think. You can think, "What if I do this," or "How about that?" but you can never know how anything will work out.
You are given the full power to decide which path you choose in life, good or bad. With that power you must think about the consequences and do the thing you believe in.
A "what if" situation may stare you in teh face everyday, but without your choice, your decision, you will just keep on asking yourself; what if?
