Daydreaming

Do you remember those days

Those days you played pretend

The days you daydreamed of what you’d become.

One day you were a pirate, finding buried treasure.

The next an astronaut playing baseball on the moon.

Then a mermaid swimming alongside her fishy friends.

A brave knight armored to fight a fire breathing beast.

Maybe to be the superhero who saved the day.

Or a princess who had finally found her prince charming.

A professional football player scoring a touchdown.

Or playing doctor, saving the lives of your dolls.

A famous singer, dancing and playing on a stage.

Maybe you pretended to be a favorite book character,

Where the good always bested the bad.

In daydream land you could be whoever,

Where ever, or whatever you wanted.

Now these days I have realized how wrong I was

When I wished to be older and to grow up.

I want to forget reality and go back to daydreaming.
