Between us

Chapter 4

I woke up with a throbbing headache. Where am I? I looked around and saw that I was tied to a chair. Oh right, chloroform.

I heard some voices in the distance. "She's awake boss." The voices came closer and I scrunched my eyes, their footsteps echoing in my head. "Well hello, little lady." A man with a raspy voice said, I presumed that he must be the boss. He wasn't wearing a mask, neither of them actually. He had blue eyes and grayish blonde hair.

"Why am I here?" I asked and he laughed. "Your dear husband messed up big time little lady."
"First of all, my name isn't 'little lady'!" I saw that he was amused. "And secondly, if he messed up, then why don't you go to London to get him?! Why take me?"

"Because you are his wife, you're important to him." He said, stating the obvious and I laughed, causing him to frown. "What's so funny little lady?"

"Dominic doesn't care about me or anyone else for that matter. The only thing that's important to him is his reputation." I see him looking shocked and then I added. "FYI, the name is Charlie!" That caused him to laugh.

"Feisty one, I see." His eyes scanned my body, but it was not repulsive or anything with lust, it was just as if he was curious about his prey. "Oh don't you worry little lady, your husband will come to get you." Then I remembered something. "James! Is he alright?"

He shot me a wicked grin and then spoke to another guy. I'll recognise that cold voice anywhere. That's the guy that chloroformed me. The boss man turned back to me. "I'm sorry to inform you that your chauffeur wouldn't be able to walk after today. Barry got too carried away."

Oh poor James, he got into that terrible condition because of me. "And as for your husband not caring about you," Boss man began and I shuddered. "He will come if he knows that you are expecting his first child."

I got cold all of the sudden and looked at him in horror. Shit! They know I'm pregnant! Before I could say anything else, they left and locked me up again.

While they were gone I had some time to think about my sad life. Isn't it ironic? I said that I will never give Dominic a child, and guess who's pregnant now? I looked around the place, it was dark and cold, it's like an old warehouse. While I was busy sobbing over my life, they came back with some food. And I had to admit, I was kinda hungry.

The guy named Barry came and untied my wrists. They were sore and I rubbed them a few times. "You must be hungry little lady." He said and I rolled my eyes. He doesn't scare me at all, a part of me is relieved that I'm kidnapped. Hey! Maybe I could convince them to kidnap Nana and then they could take us to another place, far away from Dominic and Hawk. Oh shit! What am I saying?

"Yes actually, I'm starving!" I said and took the food from him, leaving him shocked. I shrugged and saw that it was the same chocolate cake I had dropped earlier and began to eat. "Wow!" Barry exclaimed and I looked up at him. "What?" I asked him.

"You're really something else, Big Boss also noticed it." He said and I chuckled. "Mmm, I'm actually glad that you guys kidnapped me, because back at the mansion my life was a living hell!"

He laughed and I chuckled, look at me, being friendly with the kidnappers. Must be the chloroform that went to my head. "Uh, Barry?" I asked when he was about to turn away and then he looked at me. "I need to pee." He sighed and untied my legs rambling unaudible stuff about women and their problems.

After I finished doing my business I went outside again and then Barry tied me up again. Soon Big Boss came with a phone and took a picture of me. He then dialed a number and waited for a long time. When the person finally answered he smirked real evil and looked at me. "Dominic Gray."

I shuddered, that voice will make anyone - and I mean anyone, have nightmares. He spoke to Dominic for a long time, threatening him, and all I could do was to watch him in awe. Oh I would give anything to see Dominic right now. Big Boss then turned to me and put the phone at my ear. "He wants to speak to you."

"Charlie? Are you alright? Did they hurt you?" He asked, his voice full of worry. "Yes Dominic, I'm okay, they didn't hurt me. They did hurt James though." I said and I saw Barry beam with pride. Ugh stupid man!

"I don't give a damn about James, I just worry about you and our unborn baby." He said and for a second my heart stopped. Does he actually care? No, I dare not think that he cares about me. "I'm fine Dominic, we both are." I said and he sighed a breath of relief. "Don't you worry, I'll get you both away from there safely. I promise." He said before Big Boss took the phone away from my ear.

"You've got 48 hours." He barked into the phone and switched it off, and then he threw it violently against a wall, causing it to shatter into pieces.
He then turned to Barry. "Take her to the room you've prepared and lock the door." While Barry was busy untying me, Big Boss looked at me and smirked evil. "Tick, Tock. Tick, Tock." He said and turned away from me.

Barry took me to a room with the tiniest windows I've ever seen. There's no place for escaping. He then went outside and locked the door- and he made sure that I hear that the door was actually locked. I sighed and went to lie on the bed, luckily the blanket and cushions are clean.

I scanned the room, it's very small with just the bed and a jug with water is standing here. Just great.

I touched my stomach. "Hey there Puppet," I said softly and cried, to think that there is life growing inside of me. "Everything will be alright, I will never let you get hurt, Mommy promises you."

I closed my eyes but no sleep came, I tossed and turned around a lot and eventually I dreamt of total darkness...
