"Mr. Gray wants you to join him for dinner later tonight." Lucy said as soon as she came inside the room.
I sighed miserably. When will this madness end?
"Okay, I'll be there soon." I said and figured that there was no point in resisting.
"He asked that you should dress like you used to, like when you were married." She continued and went to the closet to take out formal cream pants and a blue blouse and a pair of comfortable shoes. I nodded and took a quick shower.
I figured that if I got into Dominic's good books, he'd go easy on me, and I'll find out where the hell I am.
I got dressed and twisted my hair into a stylish French bun, and also applied makeup.
"Will it just be the two of us tonight?" I asked Lucy when she gave me my daily medicine.
"No, another woman is here. The same one that pretended to be a nurse, t-the one that, -" She paused uncertainly but continued anyway. "That drugged your husband."
Suddenly I felt more interested in this dinner. I looked at the time, time to meet the bitch that drugged my husband.
"Just like old times, dear." Dominic said when I sat down across the table.
"Indeed." A female voice said behind me, and my heart stopped. "Hello, Charlie."
That voice, could it be?
I turned around and my suspicions were confirmed. Standing all smugly was none other than Stacy Roth. Her long black her was now short and a dirty blonde color, she also looked thin and older. Seems that these past months has been tough on her.
I stood up and shot her a 'death-stare'. "Stacy."
Even though she's taller than me, she seemed intimidated and cleared her throat and sat next to Dominic. I also sat down again and stared at her the whole time.
Dominic chuckled. "Why the hate, dear?"
Without taking my eyes off Stacy, I answered. "She drugged my husband." I looked at Dominic. "You shot him."
"He deserved to die."
"Just because he was man enough to protect his wife and baby against harm? You're pathetic Dominic."
He clenched his jaw and his eyes bore into mine. "That lowlife deserved to die. He was a bad guy and this," he traced the ugly scar on his cheek with his finger, "this is what he did to me! This is what he does for a living!"
"Lies! He's not the bad guy, you are!"
He stood up and walked towards me. He stopped only inches away from me and chuckled when the realization hit him. "Poor, Charlie. You don't even know what your 'brave' husband did for a living." He squatted down so that our faces are leveled. "Would you like me to tell you?"
Of course, the question was rhetorical, because he stood up and walked around the dining room with a grin. "Oh, Charlie. You thought you married the 'good guy'. Turns out, you married the monster."
"Why would I believe you?" I asked even though deep down, I feared that he may be correct.
"I have no more reason to lie to you now. Stacy, bring that black file in my study." He said and she quickly did as he asked. When she came back, he grinned and paced the room again with the file in his hand.
"Ryder Storm, the second feared man in this dark industry. He, of course works for none other than Black Badger, the devil himself."
Black Badger? Hawk said he got into trouble with Black Badger, and now I find out that Ryder's working for him?
