Nine: Set up

Princeton, New Jersey

Ren's POV…

“Good morning sweetheart.” I greeted Hina when she walked into the kitchen wearing one of my old college sweatshirts.

“Good morning baby,” She greets back, then leans forward and pecks me on the lips. Her early morning show of affection surprised the heck out of me.

“Is there anything you would like to do today?” I asked, pulling her onto my lap.

“First thing this morning, I'm having breakfast with a few of my friends. At lunchtime, I'm going shopping for a birthday present for my nephew with my sister, but after that, I'm free to do whatever you want.”

“How about we go out to Davina's for dinner?” I asked, nibbling on her neck.

“Alright.” She moaned out, at the same time, my cell phone rang. “Babe, answer your phone,” she says when I slipped my hand underneath her shirt and began to caress her bare breast.

“I'll call whoever it is back later,” I replied, then angled her head further to the right so that I could suck on her neck.

“Ren, please answer the phone, it might be important.”

“If it's important, they'll leave a message or whoever it is will call me back.”

“Hello,” Hina says after answering my phone. “Who is this?” she asked in a sharp voice. “Some woman named Samantha wants to talk to you.” She snapped, shoving my phone in my hand, then abruptly stood up.

“Hello, Ms. Davenport.” I greet her while looking directly at Hina.

“I hope that I'm not interrupting anything.” I hear Samantha nervously say.

“No, you're not. What do you need?” I asked, at the same time, Hina walked out of the kitchen angry.

“Are you and your wife still looking for a surrogate mom?”

“Yes, we are. Why?”

“My best friend wants to be considered as one of the candidates.”

“What's your friend's name and when will she be able to meet with my wife and me?”

“Her name is Ari Lambert, and she can meet with you guys today if you'd like. Her flight lands in two hours.”

“So… I take it that Ms. Lambert doesn't stay here?”

“No, she stays here. She just had to go back to her hometown to take care of some business.”

“Tell her to meet my wife and me at Davina's tonight.”

“At what time, and what name will the reservation be under, Sir?”

“It'll be under my name, and I'll call you back in a little bit with the time.”

“Alright, I'll be waiting to hear from you.” Ms. Davenport cheerfully replied, then ended the call.
