"Matt, answer me. Were you the one who initiated the attack on Elizabeth?" I gazed past the cloud of uncertainty that surrounded us. Matt was clenching his teeth and tightening his fist on the other side.

"Hank!" Angel swiveled around to shout at me.

"What? The fact is that Matt had the bat, and it was improbable that someone else got ahold of it." I turned back.

"Does that automatically make him guilty!" Angel snapped back.

"I never said he was guilty. I asked if he initiated the attack." I crossed my arms.

"Same thing, damnit...." Matt's voice shook.

"Well? Do you have a rebuttal against the evidence against you?" I stood my ground.

"He wouldn't-" Claire tried to interrupt.

"Wouldn't kill? What's stopped others from killing in this damn game? Sure, Alex and Tristan are terrorists, but Isabelle was just like you and me, yet she killed to escape. Put aside your emotions and think! We all were on the verge of starving to death! Do you think everyone would lie down and die!?" I yelled out.

"No... No, he wouldn't... But why would he choose Elizabeth!? Why not kill someone useless... Someone like me...." Claire cried, crumbling down to her knees.

"Claire..." Jasper glanced over with cyan eyes. Don't act like you care, you rat.

"I didn't do it, bastard! I-I wouldn't kill her...." Matt's eyes were like a fire in a pale, cold body.

"Then convince me," I glared.

"Fine..." Matt clenched the skull on his T-shirt.

"I'll fucking prove you wrong, Hank," He spat, his eyes glaring deep into my soul.

Matt's Gambit - Begin -

"The killer started the attack with a spiked weapon, yeah?" Matt began.

"Yeah, Elizabeth had several puncture wounds." I crossed my arms. Matt shuttered.

"As established before, the bat I got wasn't spiked at all, t-the rat confirmed that." He looked across at Jasper.

"Sure, but nothing stopped you from modifying the weapon," I countered.

"What could I have possibly added t-that would make it spiked, huh?" Matt argued with fleeting strength. Are you serious? That's your argument?...

I pulled out the bloody nail I pulled from my pocket. "This dumbass, it was left at the crime scene." Matt gulped.

"That's from the first-floor storage room, right?" Leo mentioned.

"Anyone could have gone there...." Angel covered her mouth.

"With some handy work, nails like these would be easy to install in a wooden bat." I continued.

"Tch, that's where you're w-wrong," Matt scoffed.

"Huh?" I raised an eyebrow.

"My bat was metal. No tool in the storage room would be capable of putting nails in a solid metal bat." Matt's eyes shone like a lit flame.

"Is this true, Jasper?" I shifted over to the demon, my hand covering my mouth.

"Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that, huh." Jasper smirked with yellow eyes. Yellow... Is he lying?...

"It would be nice if we could see the bat with our own eyes," Angel shrunk.

"Jasper could be lying...." I grunted.
