Why did you want to become a detective in the first place? Was it the thrill of figuring out the culprit? Was it the sense of dread that comes from a crime scene?
You know the answer to that question. Why are you asking me?
Because you might know more than I do.
Why is that?
Because you are me. Isn't that what you told me?
...Your silent all of a sudden? Is it because you're afraid that I know what you are?
Why would I be afraid? I knew that you would figure it out sooner or later.
Then answer my question, why did we want to become a detective?
To find the truth.
About what?
This is pointless.
I just want to hear it from you.
Fine, We became a detective to uncover the truth to get rid of the scumbags that let lies taint the world around them. That's our primary motivation, right? Or are you asking what happened to cause that motivation?
You're right. I did know the answer to the question...
Did you expect me to have a different answer?
No, I was just testing out a hypothesis of mine. You're free to go.
*Knock Knock Knock*
I woke up from my deep slumber to the noise of knocking at my door. I felt a shiver of dread pass through my body as I slowly sat up.
*Knock Knock Knock Knock*
"I'm coming...." I spoke in a weary voice as I rubbed my eyes. Looking up at the clock, it read twelve PM. Did Jasper actually let me sleep in? I thought to myself as I put on my detective jacket and tie, walked over to the door, and opened it to see Jasper standing, looking at me with glowing black eyes and a serious expression.
"Jeez, you wake up late," Jasper scoffed.
"Late? This is early for me," I scratched the back of my head.
"Whatever, I have Alex waiting in the prison lounge. I sent him a letter in Leo's name, so he should be there." Jasper turned his back to me.
"Are you ready?" He asked. I've never seen him so serious before... Not even during the trial.
"Are you sure we shouldn't call a meeting? Alex might be dangerous, you know?" I replied. He paused, his body tensed up.
"He made a fool of me! How could someone so uninteresting beat me in a game of lies and manipulation?" Jasper punched the wall beside him.
"I get that your mad, but what exactly will you do to him once we meet? I'm sorry to say, but you're not the most physically opposing person I have met." I crossed my arms.
"That's why I got you, Hank. If anything goes wrong, you'll be there to help me." Jasper spoke calmly.
"Sure, but who's to say that he won't have a weapon on hand?" I pointed out.
"Just trust me, kay? I have thought of all of that already." Jasper loudly replied. I gave a deep sigh.
"You might be acting on your emotions a little too much," I put my hand on my forehead.
